Hi, folks - we're overwhelmed with the well wishes from all - I'll print them up and share them with Jocelyn. I haven't seen her since Friday night - turns out I came down with a nasty bout of strep throat, and I've been in bed on antibiotics till now. Feeling more human, doctor's say I'm no longer contagious, so I'll get to see Jocelyn & the babies this afternoon (with my face mask and all). In regards to reinking epson, I've got an Epson Stylus Color II, and I've been reinking the same black and color cartridges for a while with no banding problems that don't disappear after a few cleaning cycles. Then they don't seem to reappear for me at all. Finally, I assumed Larry was JustMe, am I incorrect? Regards & thanks to all! Michael. p.s., best way to access site is via above address. If you go directly to some page, you may not be able to get to all parts of the website. Michael

Hi Melissa, here's the post from Debe about AOL ads. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms. Helen Debe (Debr53@aol.com) Subject: AOL POP-UPS User's IP Address: 152.163.204.5 April 27, 1998 (12:41 PM PDT) This is something AOL wont't tell you. How to get rid of all those stupid ads that pop up everytime you log on or go into certain departments. 1. Click keyword and type in "Marketing Preferences", and hit go. 2. Double click on the menu where it says "Pop Up Preferences" a new screen will come up. 3. Look in the lower right hand corner of the screen and you will see a small box that says "If you prefer not to receive any pop up ads" Click on the box. 4. A screen will appear that says you will not receive any more pop ups. Just click okay. AOL will lose money if people don't see the ads, so that is why they don't want you to know you can cancel getting these messages. Debe

Hi Janet, what "upgrade" are you talking about? Are you referring to patch 4.01 on top of this chat room? Then it is not an upgrade, simply a patch that will correct a few errors in the original installation of PMG. And I have never heard of a warning about a certificate, even I downloaded the patch several times on different computers. Maurice.

Jill, I have an Epson 400. After reinking I not only had banding but little runs on the bottom of each letter I'd print. I would clean the heads 7 times, in between each cleaning I would go to PMP and make a page up of a wide fonts a couple inches high and do all four colors and just start to print them. Eventually I could see the runs and bands dissappear, as each would look right I would then eleminate that color and make more of the other colors. After seven cleanings and quite a few papers of letters it stopped ...Renee

Then, when I didn´t find any, they said these were made in the U.S. for the U.S. market only. Blaahh! If anybody finds this one available for purchase from some site on the Internet, pls let me know, will you? Or anyone running their own business might be willing to export to me. Who knows, maybe I can trigger a market for those cutters over here, he he... Have a nice day Helga. Peter :>)

Well, I uninstalled PMP and reinstalled it. Still dumb grey boxes. So, I uninstalled my Canon rastor driver, which I liked and reinstalled Canon's Windows printing system, which I hate. My PMP prints fine now, but Micrograpx Draw 6 (which I also really like a lot!!!) doesn't. I thought their recent patch might have cured the couple of problems in that, but it didn't. Read that Canon is supposed to have some new drivers in June. I hope so. I hate having to make choices like this. My printer isn't even a year old yet, so I can't really justify buying another one - unless I want to trash my marriage and I really don't want to do that. LOL. Maurice, Larry, Glenn - can you think of any other solution? Thanks for listening. Marty

Jill, I found some disturbing news in the "Usenet Newsgroup." Here are a couple of direct quotes:.... "Re: Epson Stylus Color Black Banding Did you know that you need to switch the printer off after 3 head-cleaning cycles - it is programed to do nothing after 3 - despite sounding like the cycle is working. I had to do about 3 sets of 3 to get mine going (under the directions of the Epson telephone team)."......"One caveat: I've found that Epson's cartridges refill well once or twice, but beyond that it becomes increasingly likely that a refill just plain won't "take." I therefore don't bother even trying past two refills."....Hopefully Larry can shed some light on our problems. I'm out of here for the night; so good night to all.....Helga=^..^=

Dear David, I do concert programs, orders of worship, programs for Scouting ceremonies, etc. as half fold cards. This is a comfortable size to hold and read, gives you plenty of room to add artwork if desired, and you can choose which pages to use, since all four are accessible. One caution: When working with a poster you know that although your graphics or text go all the way to the edge, there will be a margin left on all four sides. However, with a half-fold card there is no indication of the margin which will be left in the center of the inside. (We call this the gutter.) So always move your work slightly to the outside edges and print one out before adjusting all the details exactly. Lynn

Daisy, I don't think that what I want to do will work. I thought Glenn's idea would work but the chart blocks out the cake underneath. I can see a slight grey color that tells me that scanning my chart is not going to work unless I can make everything else transparent. Does this make sense? I need this done tonight and I could skip it all together and just type up something simple but I want to do it if it is possible...Melissa

Tracey Open a new project (card, poster, etc.) Click on the Picture Icon. In the Art Gallery put ALL in each of the windows. Then type the words GRADIENT BLEND in the search window and click on FIND NOW. You will be presented with several gradients. (Additional search words are Center Out, Outside In, and Outside in Rainbow) These are not brought up under gradient blend and will have to be entered in search separately. Center out is most useful. Remember that color is not important. You need to click on the one that has the effect you want to create. Then click on SELECT. The gradient will then appear in your project. Size it to fit the page.(or beyond)............. To change the color click on the paint can. Select a color from the palette. Then click on MORE. You will get a rainbow palette with the color you selected as the starting point. You can move the cross hairs to any color you like. Move the slider on the right side to lighten the color. This is to make it more usable as a background. Experiment to get just the color you want. When satisfied click on OK. The color possibilities are virtually limitless. .......................

I'm so exasperated with my Epson 600 #$%$#$%$#$%. My patience is running thin %$@$%#!! As with Helga, I've once again gone through the motions to reink the color cartridge. I am only able to get ONE reinking from a cartridge. When it is refilled the second time, using the exact same steps, I either get nothing or banding. This is with topping off the cartridge at the one quarter to one half mark. It happens with both the color and the black. Several (eight to ten cleanings does not solve the problem) and only uses up more ink.

Hi Friends, and particularly Helga if I remember correctly. I am still trying to get hold of the archives which include the dates of April 15th through 18th. I inadvertently sent them off to lost file Heaven and have not been able to retrieve them. What I desperatly need right now are the instructions which someone (Helga, I think), posted for sending a PM online card. I am desperate to get one in the e-mail to a person who will probably not see much of summer, much less another Mother's Day. But those instructions are the ones lost. If anyone can help me out with those ASAP, I would be SO appreciative. Thanks good folks. Jean

Dear Jocelyn and Michael: I am adding my congratulations to those other PM chat room who have been following your every move. I am delighted that everything is OK. Problem 1: I am trying to make a banner for my daughter's 5th-grade classroom wall. She wants a woodgrain back and a late 1800s font (I used Rodeo) to make the sign for the store window. The problem is that the woodgrain background I have a left border background, with only the left the woodgrain. So I opened a banner and repeated the woodgrain several times horizontally, each time covering the yellow in the rest of that image. Then I placed the sign wording on top of that. When I went to print a trial tile, the sign text comes out fine, but there is no background. The image is quite a bit higher than could be accommodated within the upper and lower banner margins. I didn't think that would be a problem. I have been sitting here for almost 4 hours now, trying different things. If I alter the % down from 100%, it will print a woodgrain background, but only about 2 inches high. I do want the text to occupy a good 7-1/2 to 8" of the vertical banner margins, but I am running out of time on a VERY BUSY DAY already. In order to keep the proportion, I want it to be 1 tile high in order to fit properly in her "window" she is constructing. But to do that, it wants to make it 22 tiles across. I would be delighted to just stop the printer when I get to the place where I have all of the text printer. But she can't handle anyting more than about 3-1/2 to 4 tiles wide (which isn't a problem: Her text fits fine within those dimensions. I'll have to ask you about the second problem later. I need to get this one straigtened out right away! Thanks good folks for trying to help. Most cordially, Jean

Two days ago, I refilled my Epson 800 color cartridge for the third time. With the use of a needle and syringe, I filled each compartment very slowly and let the cartridge sit for two hours before reinstalling it back into the printer. I ran it through the cleaning cycle three times, and the print output was fine. That same evening (10 hours after refilling), the output showed missing lines. A nozzle check revealed horizontal gaps in magenta and yellow. After three more print head cleanings, printing was all right again. Last night, the same thing happened: missing lines in output which were fixed by cleaning the print heads. Also, nozzle check showed horizontal gaps again in magenta and yellow. Any ideas on why the magenta and yellow colors seem to stop flowing? Any suggestion on how resolve this problem? I need to shop for a Mother's Day gift and will check back later. Thanks. BTW, the printer is fixed again, but I can't tell what was wrong. You good people would be ROTFLOL....L8R.....Helga=^..^=

I can just see him now, last one is out, he leans over and gives Jocelyn a little peck on the cheek, and off to the computer he goes to jump on the chat and update his page. Linda, so sorry to hear about your little friend. I had to do that last July with Gin-Gin that I'd had since she was 3, she was 15 when I had to let her go. 2 days later, we saved another little one that had her D-day coming up in 3 days from then at the shelter. We hadn't planned to add to the family that quickly, but she needed a family and we needed a little furry one. It helped me get through the sorrow a little easier, having a little one to hold on to and catch my tears. Best wishes to you.
