I just bought PM Platinum & love it!!! Imagine 6 cdroms!!! I'm in heaven. However, I'm gonna end up broke with all these upgrades. So for all you die-hard PM fans, here's a solution (that I have used for my last 3 upgrades). I buy the upgrade (at the lowest price I can find it), send in my rebate, and sell my old version to a friend. Eg. for PM Platinum, which usually goes for about $69-$79: At Computer City, it's on sale for $44.99, less my $25 rebate, and selling the old version to a friend for $15, the total deal will cost me $4.99 (+ tax). You do the math, try it, it works!!! Come on PM, keep coming up with those upgrades, I can afford it!!! Good Luck!
Re: envelopes. Depending on what fold you are using, listed are the envelopes you can buy at Staples:
For quarter folds: #5 1/2 Baronial envelopes (4 3/8 x 5 3/4)
For half folds: Booklet size (sorry I don't have dimensions, as I didn't buy it yet). But they do fit. Hope this helps!!
Can Margins be changed in PM Platinium 4? If so, please give instructions. I would be most apprecitive. Thank you.
Why, if I have 13.1 MB of Printmaster
on my hard drive, do I have to insert the CDROM each time to run the program?
If I want to install a newer version, is it okay to run BOTH programs or should I overwrite 3.0 with the newer version?
iam new to this section but was wondering we make all these nice cards but no envelopes to match the size of the cards i have seen it before where lines are drawn for cuting and making but cant remember what program has it does print master gold
Hi Maruice!
Yes, I downloaded the patch when it first became available and just today had the problem with the characters popping up and missing text letters. It seems kind of strange to me to "save" a project only to bring it up for revisions later with added characters within the text. Sounds strange to you too? Pat
How do you place a message on the inside part of a quarter fold card, and have a message on four parts of the fold.
Thanks,
Bob
Hi Tina, what are these icons you are talking about? Where exactly did you find them? Are they part of PMG3 or PMG4? What is this "book thing?" Please explain a bit, so we can solve your problem. Maurice.
Hi Pat, have you tried to download and install the patch? As I recall, it corrects this. Find the download link for Patch 4.01 at the top of this chat room. Maurice.
I believe that at one time someone on this board addressed their problem with funny characters popping up, missing letters, etc., while working on a project in PMW, and I'm not sure anyone addressed this problem. I have experienced this in V3 and now again in PMW Gold V4.0. Of course, this happened while on deadline and it's quite unnerving to say the least. Anyway, while making revisions to an already "saved" document (newsletter), the screen showed my text missing letters and small boxes within the text box (either at the beginning of a sentence or at the end). There's nothing special about the box, no graphics, etc., just plain text. I'm baffelled. Any thoughts?? Thanks. Pat in Florida
I would like to talk to someone who has Publishing Suite and the Graphic's CD
anyone?
Just new in the club, good to know that there is help out there if needed. Hope all have a great year working this program
Please email me if you know how to do this. Thanks!!
Hello?? Is anyone here??
Hey! Does anyone know how to get these icons that they have in this book thing?? I've been trying to get them, but I've only been able to get a few. Please respond if you know how!!
Thanks!
Thanks Lynn, I used your instructions for text wrap and I finally got it to work. The instructions in the manual and on-line didn't even come close to what you told me. Thanks again for the help.
Hello Again!
I notice there is a patch available to upgrade PMG4. I have PMP4, and am wondering if this patch also applies to it. It seems the programs are identical except for the number of graphics, Your comments will be appreciated.
Don
Hi Marci, we have found that the easiest way to make resumés is to use the NEWSLETTER setup. You can use the spellchecker with it and it allows you to flow text from one page to the next. Just perfect. There is a tutorial for newsletters in the manual, pages 33 to 36. Maurice.
I'm trying to make the colors silver and gold and just can not seem to find them. Does anybody have any ideas what they are. In the old pm gold I had gold but know that we are into platinum I just can not find gold. Help.
Hi Jim, I have seen this problem before. The only solution we came up with is this: Turn off the "double-sided printing" feature and turn on the "front printing" only. Then print the front of the card. Re-insert the printed card as it comes out of the printer (do not turn it over) and print the inside with the command "front printing" checked and the again, the "double-sided printing" feature unchecked. It works perfectly and prints in color each time. Maurice.
1) The attribute "text wraps around" is applied to the object you want the text to wrap around, not the text box.
2) The object you want the text to wrap around must be layered "on top" of (in front of) the text box.
3) To have text flow with a little space around a picture, use the crop tool to extend the picture boundary *outward*.

Has anyone come up with an easy way to make resumes on here? Or am I just gonna have to do something else. I've used the letterhead but after this I am stumped. Can anyone help.....I'm a dufuss!!!!
Hello everyone! Im new here!
No problems with my PM Platinum! Love it, love it, LOVE IT!
Just wanted to introduce myself to you all! Its nice to know there is someplace to come for support!!
Greetings from Canada!! lynne
I can't print any double side application in color. Grayscale, however, is no problem. When I select PRINT for a two sided card I get an error message on my monitor that tells me I need to change the cartridge to black because the project I am printing is b&w OR I have the grayscale mode checked on my set-up screen. Neither of which are are true.
Has anyone else run across this problem?
I have an HP Pavilion 3100 with a DeskJet 400 printer. The printer driver is version 8.0 for Windows 95.
I've contacted HP and after many hours of troubleshooting they've informed me that it is not my set up. It is most definitely inherent in my edition of PrintMaster Gold Deluxe 4.0
JIM
Dear Thomas,
Welcome. An easy way to shrink your calendar is to finish it, then go to Print. On the Print page is a button labeled Output Size. Clicking that will take you to a page on which you can choose the pproximate dimensions you want. (It stays proportionate.) Then print out and cut out your calendar. There's no control as to where it prints on the page, no way to get two to a page, etc., except by using Maurice's favorite method which is to scan it in and treat the whole thing as a graphic. Then you have total control. Lynn
Hi Tom(ttownse@ibm.net) Welcome to PMG and the Club. When you have your calendar designed the way you want it, click on "Print". When the print dialog box opens, click on the "Output Size" button. It's on the left side of the window. Another window opens and you can size your calendar to just about any size you want. Good luck with your projects, I think you will really like the program. Frank
thanks to Jude and B.J.Sanko for the info, it was great, and i find it easy to do now with other programs also.
People are wonderful.
a little something for you guys.
May the snow that lands on
your road to home,
be light and fresh
so that your travel be one of
beauty and safe travel.
Hi All. First time user of PM Deluxe and on this site.
Problem: I would like an easy way to shrink calendars with their backgrounds down to a size to fit in my organizer. Say 3.5 in by 6 in. Maybe there is an easy way. I have not been able to find it.
Hope you all can help.
Thanks
This is not a printmaster question but I just know one of you bright folks can help me understand this. Downloading from AOL is incredibly complicated. This I have mastered. But...if I want to check the download for a virus before opening it....what next. I have McAfee Virus Scan. Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.
Eleanor you can print only what you want.highlight the message you want to print. go to edit and select copy. this puts the highlited text on the windows clipboard. Open wordpad , go to edit and select paste. the message appears select print and you are done.
Thank you, Stanee Rae, for the Notepad suggestion. It was much quicker than my method. I don't mind copying online if it isn't very time consuming but wish I could just highlight and print desired text. Thanks again..appreciate it.
Hi everyone! I am really new to the pmp world and I'm learning a lot from everyones chat. There are a lot of questions I know I am going to have, but I havent gotten around through most of pmp. It has been a blast! I am enjoying all the hints. Thnx
I received the PrintMaster package as a Christmas gift and I have already used it to make lots of neat stuff. I just wanted to say hi to everyone!
What I do is save the entire PMG chat page to a floppy. The default file is chat.htm. Then the next day I save to another file, chat2.htm. I keep doing this for several days. That way, if a message has scrolled off I can go back to the previous day's chat and re-read it. You could save a week's worth by naming them monday.htm, etc. then just re-write over them the next week. Since the chat is longer now I prefer to read it offline. If I want to print any messages, I highlight the text and paste it into Windows Notepad. Then I print out the page with all the messages I want to save.
Hi Everyone!:
I have PM Platinum 4.0 and was trying to import all my personal graphics into the "Your Own" section of the browser. I was able to get about 1,987 imported, but could not add any more. The importer showed the files were being imported, but they would not register in the browser. I then tried to delete some of the ones already imported hoping to make room for more important files, but received a message telling me that there was an error during the deletion. I then checked the browser to see what had happened, if anything, and found that I now have a couple of empty browser pages between graphics. Can anyone please tell me what I can do to rectify this problem, and, if possible how I can get more of my graphics to import into the browser? I will be eternally grateful for any help, and thank you in advance.
Don
Disregard my last query. Got it right the second time around. Didn't open enough folders in the "save" window first time around! Can't believe I did that! Thanx again, Frank
Okaaay girls and boys I got a problem. Downloaded a graphic from PM this morning. I printed the instructions first so I would get it right, followed the inst., downloading seems to go alright as I got no error messages. Tried to find it in the project window by clicking on Add Picture, Open from Disk, opened pmw folder(where I saved it) got zilch. Did it miss a turn on the superhiway, and go off into cyberspace, or did I do something wrong? (probably) Thanx for any help, Frank.
I have noticed several people asking how to print specific messages from the Live board and not have to print out 20 some pages. I, too, have this problem. The only way I have found to overcome this is to open my Microsoft Word program, minimize it and then go into AOL, bring up Printmaster Live and highlight the desired text. Under Edit, choose Copy and then bring Word back up, choose Paste and I am then able to print from there. Highlighting the desired text and printing directly from the Live area doesn't work for me. There is no way to set Print Area in AOL, at least as far as I have been able to determine.
Don, the CD changer was not in the catalog when I ordered it either. Just tell the operator what you want and she will look it up. I didn't even have the item number. She had the one that I ordered and another one about the times more expensive. Thanks
Chuck in Redding, Ca.
Bruce (PoetB@aol.com)
Subject: inserting clip art, etc.
Bruce - When I come to PrintMaster Live, I first open WordPad and minimize it on my Start bar. Then I enter Printmaster Live and read the messages from the bottom up, since answers are always above the questions. When I find a tip that I want to save, I highlight the text, right click, and choose "Copy." I then click on WordPad on the Start bar, right click and paste the text into the document screen. I enter three blank lines, minimize WordPad and return to PM Live. (In order to do this, you have to set your Start bar up to always be on top and then hide itself. Go to Start-Settings-Taskbar. Check the boxes for auto hide and always on top. Now when you need to maximize WordPad, you can move your cursor toward the Start bar, it will appear and you do your copy-paste, and when you minimize WordPad again, the Start bar will disappear off your screen.) Anyway, at the end of the session you can save the WordPad document as a text file and have it available to read or print at any time. I put a folder called "Tips" in my Printmaster directory and save my tips into this file. If I need to read the documents, I simply open WordPad and read them.
Also, you can add a third-party graphic to PMW3.0 by clicking on "File" when you are in the album and then choosing "Open from disk." You navigate to the graphic you want and select it. It will then be imported into your document.
Hi Chuck....And Thanks again for the information, have been using that already, but would sure like to know about the 5 cd changer from Damark. I just got the Jan. 1998 catalog today and can't seem to find it. Thanks Don
Rick - Another way to proportionally increase/decrease size of graphics is to click on the first button on the task bar at the bottom of the workspace. A drop-down menu appears, click on More & a Confirm Dialog Box appears with tabs for size & placement. This comes in handy if you want to be exact. Tom - Thanks for the tip in holding down the Shift key. That's a real time saver! Also, thanks to Lynn (I think) who offered the suggestion to see the inside of a card, to click on the large size on the View menu item. You are one smart lady! The ongoing debate to upgrade or not to upgrade :( ) , I have worked w/the original 3.0, the Gold 3.0 & now the Platinum. When I initially installed Platinum on my new computer, I experienced lots of problems. Now, after help from this chat room, I vote with no hesitation to upgradie. There is little being offered in the software arena that compares. Soon we will all become experts in the intricacy of the program. Hang in there!
I just purchased Prinmaster Gold Deluxe version 3.0 at a computer show today. I installed it (I thought successfully) and reviewed the intro info.
I immediately tried to open a card- no luck! Then a banner- no luck! The program seems to get hung then eventually I'm told PMG can't open the card, banner, etc. Then I get an illegal error message followed by can't run shell32 message. Has anyone experienced this? Does this sound like I got a bad copy of PMG? I was really looking forward to using it but now I don't know.
Any help is appreciated.
Thx, Kris
Bev - Don't know if your question re: "invisible graphics in workspace area" has been answered. Maurice & Eleanor were wonderful in helping me solve that same pesty problem & if you are still hanging out there and need help, don't hesitate to E-mail me. I have become a pro in this section & would be most willing to help. :'-).
Dear Karenm,
Sorry. I tried just to add the additional graphics from Platinum when I upgraded, but you're right, it doesn't know. You have to install it. I just moved my saved projects to another directory while I did the installation. As I needed them I opened them from disk and saved them in PMW again, but I find I have more problems when my USER file is full, so I like to keep a lot of my projects stored in another directory anyway.
To install the National Geographics with Windows 3.1, you'll need to add another file that someone on this board can give you, but that's the only other complication.
If you don't mind changing the CD's (I think it's worth it for the tremendous variety) you'll love it! Lynn
Karenm - To upgrade to Platinum over Deluxe ver 4.0, yes, you will have to install the Platinum version in order that all of the graphics included with this version appear in your Art Gallery. Good Luck!
C Vickers...I had this problem and the best thing I've found is enlarging my text box slightly. Would love to hear some input from others. had it with 3.0 and 4.0. Only enlarging it slightly has helped so far. It would be fine when I saved it and then when I called it up later be scrambled. Kim
I received PrintMaster Gold Publishing Suite for Christmas and really enjoying it. I'm working on a newsletter and have run across a problem twice now and am wondering what may cause it. I produce a page with text and graphics and it looks great. I save it, and then when I call it up a day later the text is scrambled, some of the letters don't show at all, and there are strange characters within the text. The graphics are still OK. I'm using Gourmand Font. Some of the text was originally done in MS Word in another font, then cut and pasted into PM and changed to Gourmand font. Could this be causing it? Any suggestions?
For Bruce...if you click up on File, then on Page Setup, you can then page through and see which page(s) you want to print...then go back and click File, then Print and choose only the pages you want printed. Hope that helps you.
I am wondering how many others find it as annoying as I do that to use the Delux graphics and then go back to use a Printmaster graphic, you must keep changing CD's. I love version 4.0...but that feature is very annoying...i would like a choice during installation that will allow more of the program to be installed on my disk to avoid this problem.
Chuck Williamson: Thank you for your info on layers, when printing a border around a business card. My cards look great!!!
Frederica
Jill, I think one of the greatest new features in PM4 is the ability to crop graphics and photos right on the layout.
This eliminates the need to block out sections with white shapes and doesn't confuse the printer.
How can i insert clip art from other programs or internet into pmg 3.0 or do can i only use the graphs listed with the program. Also how do i print only one section from chat room, when i press print, i get a listing of 20-25 pages, i tried to highlight the words i need but it still shows many pages printing,
thanks please email me. happy holidays
Well I have been happily working with my Printmaster Gold Deluxe 4.0 and
reading the board daily. I want Platinum version. Now I have to decide how
to get it. I can call and order the upgrade by mail I understand for 19.95 US.
Or I could go out and purchase whole new Platinum version. This may end up costing be close the the same when you take into account the 25.00 US rebate and the exchange on Canadian money right now being 45 cents on the dollar. I have a couple questions. How long is the rebate valid? If I purchase the whole program will I have to reinstall or can I just use the extra graphics,(I don't want to uninstall because of my saved projects) but then how will my computer know I have Platinum. I'm just a litlle confused about this and want to check out all angles first. I love my 4.0 but am really excited about the extra graphics. This pub club is great for learning about the program. I come to it daily and save messages for future reference.. Thanks for your help with this .
Gwen,
I don't know how these instructions will differ from what you've already read, but I use Text Wrap frequently. This is what I do: 1)Create a text box. 2)Type my text into it. 3)Click on Add a picture. Find and select my graphic. It will land in the middle of the page. Move it to approximately where I want it. (Because I selected the picture after the text, it's on top. If, for some reason I do it in the other order, I use the placement tools on the right to be sure the graphic is on top of the text.) 4)Next, click on the graphic. 5)Then holding down on the shift key, click on the text box. (Click just barely outside the text box to get the box.) (It is very important to get the box, not the text itself. I can tell the difference because there's a cursor if I have the text itself, and I will lose the selection handles on the graphic.) 6)Then, when text box and graphic are both selected, click on Arrange. 7)Then click on Text Wrap, then Text Wraps Around, then Ok. When I come back to the desktop, the text will have wrapped around my graphic. Voila! A few more things: Text will only wrap around the rectangular space your graphic occupies, not following the outline of the graphic itself. Jay says there's no help for that. It's important that you move the graphic clear to the edge of your text box, or you can accidentally split words. Sometimes I place the graphic on a borderless white rectangle to leave a little more white space between my graphic and text. I text wrap the white rectangle just like any other graphic, then move my chosen graphic on top of it and group them together. Lynn
To all of those who have PM-Platinum -- Has anyone had problems getting the graphic to show up on the workspace? We have tried Print Preview, and it is still not there. But, when we print the card/poster/etc, the graphic is there. What is going on?
Yes, I had the same problem with a PMG postcard. The recipent could not get it once I sent it . I also have had trouble getting the browser included to sign on under aol. I know someone already asked about working with aol but I never saw an answer. Any help would be appreciated, as it seems others have used this. thanks
I'm having problems wrapping text around a picture. I've read the directions on-line and in the manual and still no wrap around. I've just upgraded to Platinum so its still new to me. If anyone can help please do. Thanks Gwen.
Jill (& others that are curious), the biggest differenct between Platinum 4 & PMG 3.0 is the amount of graphics. With Platinum, there are over 90,000 graphics & 20,000 photos. It has 4,000 ready made projects included, not to mention the sentiment gallery which includes hundreds of ready to go sayings for your cards. You can do 1/2 fold cards that you were unable to do easily in 3.0. The interface is different, but you can do all of the things that you did with 3.0. I really like the Platinum edition, I love the way you can browse all of the graphics from one CD, something you were unable to do with PrintMaster Gold Deluxe Publishing Suite. Some people are annoyed with swapping discs for various graphics, but you had to in 3.0, if you had the above-mentioned version. That was 3 discs, Platinum is 6 discs of high quality graphics & photos. I was a die hard, waited to upgrade to 4.0, as I was loved the way that 3.0 performed & I didn't want to lose it. To ease the transition, I installed the platinum in a different folder, to keep both versions on my PC. But once trying Platinum, I never opened 3.0 again & recently removed it from my PC. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
I just read a note about installing over PMG. I have been having problems with PMP working properly. I am going to uninstall the program and go back to reinstall, Thnx for the info.
OVER THE HOLIDAYS, I SENT A FEW EMAIL GREETING CARDS VIA PMG. TO MY SURPRISE NOT ONE OF THE RECIPIENTS WERE ABLE TO VIEW THE CARDS SENT.
THEY DID HOWEVER RECEIVE THE EMAIL NOTICE THAT POSTCARDS WERE SENT TO PMG'S URL, BUT WHEN THEY CONNECTED TO THE SITE, THERE WAS NO CARD FOR THEM TO SEE. NOT EVEN THE "VIEW CARD" BUTTON. DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT EXACTLY WAS THE PROBLEM? HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THAT PROBLEM?
Nancy..Thanks for your tip about installing PMG 4.0 over 3.0. Could you explain in detail the advantages you find now that you are familiar with 4.0? It will help those of us who are trying the decide whether to upgrade.
Thanx for the info, Chuck. As soon as I finish this message, I'm going to Damark's web site and order it. Haven't looked inside my case yet to see if I have an empty slot. I sent an e-mail message to Elsie Icon. Seems she was getting a little frustrated with the long wait after clicking on "I Accept". Hope I was able to help with the problem. Thanx again for the info, Frank
Renee. I use the Printmaster Gold Delux 3.0 with great ease. It provides just about everything I need.....cards, labels, posters, banners, etc. I even do photo work with printmaster - scanning in the photos, changing the size and stylizing the page. After reading the messages, I hesitate to invest in the Platinum 4.0. It seems that the numerous disks are problematic as well as some difficulties accessing different parts of the program. Perhaps a Platinum user could respond and compare the 3.0 to the Platinum and advise us of the advantages. Printmaster seems to be a superior program to others out there, in any format.
I am considering upgradeing my present PM Classic. What would you all suggest? I have an offer for PM Gold 3.0 super value pack. Would my money be better spent on the PM 4 or Platium?
For anyone who is installing PMG 4.0 over PMG 3.0, I would like to share a valuable lesson I learned. I was unable to access the Deluxe Art & Projects CD. I had to call Mindscape Tech Support. I installed 4.0 over 3.0. For 4.0 to work properly you need to uninstall 3.0 before you install 4.0. Or if you have already installed 4.0 uninstall it and then reinstall it. I spent hours trying to figure out what the problem was, I was ready to return PMG 4.0. Now that it is loaded properly I see marked improvement over 3.0. I am very happy with the program.
Elsie, I have seen your questions asked and answered on this chat line. You asked questions on 12-31-97, 1-1-98 and 1-1-98. Maurice answered your questions on 1-1-98. I call that pretty fast results. I think that this is a great chat board and I have learned many things from many people, especially on the board, especially from Maurice, who is our resident Guru. Cheer up and appreciate everything that is here. Have a Happy New Year!!

Frank, The new 5 CD Rom changer will fit where your existing CD rom changer is located. I had an extra slot in my computer so I kept both changers. It can hold 6 CD's at a time now without having to change them. I am going to install another 5 CD Rom changer a little later. They are really neat.
Chuck in Redding
HI Don, I was glad that you were able to use the tip. Do you use the right mouse when you want to center a picture or text box? The right mouse is a great tool. There are a lot of commands. Check them out when you are in a picture or text box. Also when you want to copy and paste, such as from the chat page to your word processor, click the right mouse and use copy and pste. It saves a lot of time. Yes, I am the Chuck in Redding. I purchased my poodle in Grass Valley from a breeder called Gale Zamora. She has beautiful poodles and her dogs have won many championships. Thanks.

Does anybody use the photo editing with PrintMaster Platinum? My question is in regard to the tool used for "getting red eye out", I click on it, my arrow turns into a paint brush, then I click on the eye area. Sometimes little black spots will appear, reducing red-eye in the photo. Sometimes nothing appears. I think I am doing it the same everytime, but unsure of why it is not working everytime. Any ideas??? Thank you!
Hi Carrie, The graduated screens that the manual is referring to are gradient rectangular graphics that are called "Top to Bottom", "Bottom to top", "Left to Right", and "Right to Left". I deduce this by looking at what they've used behind the train graphic on page 16. Use the aforementioned key words in your graphic search as well as the word "gradient". Other useful gradient graphics are called, "Inside Out", and "Outside In". Lynn, that is a great tip on matching background colors! - Brooks
HI GRETCHEN,
HIGHLIGHT WHAT YOU WANT THEN PRESS PRINT
Did somebody answer Denise's question about where is the "Wall Of Fame" on the Web? If they did, I missed it. I was curious about what it was and where it was.
Thanks,
Marci
Hi, Sheridans. Take a closer look at your CD jewel box. This is a two part box. On one side is the "Install Me" deluxe program CD, and on the other side is the Deluxe Art & Projects CD. This of course is disk 2. Have fun, you're right it's a killer program! Frank
Hello all.
If you have a graphic that is already out of proportion and you stretch it with control pressed it will remain out of proportion. However if you do it with shift it will instantly go proportional.
Glenn....
I just purchased print master gold (deluxe). It came with the program cd & deluxe art cd 1 plus creatacard special edition. When looking for pictures PM will promp me to use cd 1 . So to get what I want I'm change cd's like made. Is there a easier way to insert the pictures to my project than rotating cd's? 2? Browsing my pictures in PM progam gallery I see pictures mark cd 2. I don't have it , or it wasn't in the box when I purchased this product. Do I need to purchase it or see my vender about getting short changed? thank you for any reply other than that this program a blast!
HELP -- I have just installed PM-Platinum. After selecting a graphic from an art CD, it does not appear on the workspace. It doesn't show up in print preview, but it will print out.
How do I get the graphic to appear on the workspace so I resize accordingly?
I have tried everything I know to do.
To all:
Holding down the Control key also makes graphics stretch proportionately. (I was surprised to read that Shift does, too.) Hold down the Control key to make rectangles perfect squares and elipses perfect circles.
Here's a great tip that's not in the manual. Brooks mentioned it a couple of months ago. To see the inside of a Ready Made Card, view it in Large. Then at the bottom of the screen you have an option of looking at the front, inside or back.
If you want to make a background that exactly matches a color in a graphic, make a copy of the graphic, crop it until only the section in the desired color remains, then stretch or duplicate that until it covers your screen. Send it to the back and your project is perfectly color coordinated. Lynn
Tom they say you should learn something every day. well thanks to you and chuck I learned two things today. Things that have been bugging me. first Tom says to hold the shift key to keep picture proportional and it works great even if you have one distorted and hold the shift it jumps back to proportional. Chuck I have been frustrated as how to get pictures that I have downloaded into projects thanks to you the problem is solved.
Glenn...
THANKS Chuck....I've done 8 or 9 posters that way but when I went to do it again yesterday I guess I drew a blank.....Are you the Chuck in Redding? I'm in Grass Valley....Thanks again...Don
Chuck(dancer1@c-zone.net)that's the message I was looking for, checked out Damark at Damark.com and found the disc changer. Have one other question tho. Says it needs an open drive bay. I think I have one, but will I have to cut a hole in my case to access it, or can I replace my existing CD drive with it. Thanx, Frank.
Shawn (bakers@top.net) have you checked this chat room out yet? Love, Dad.
Would like to add a comment to the various messages concerning changing margins on greeting cards. If you place a personal colofon on the back as I do, and want to trim off the white margin on the bottom, put your colofon in the center, middle of the card. I found out the hard way!
Happy Holidays Everyone! HELP!! I am trying to make labels for my candles, but when I print them- after I've added my stuff- all I get is the color text but no black text. I have a Cannon BJC-4200 printer, a PAckard Bell Comp. and the PMG Pub Suite. Is it system error, or user malfunction?? Thanks for any help I can get.
Am I doing something wrong? I click on the Pub Club live chat and nothing happens. I have sent questions to it &
want to see if they have been answered. Please respond to my question.
I am a new user who has been wandering around based upon some vague instructions in the accompanying manual. [I am sure that operator error has played no part in my problems at all . . . . :)] Would love any helpful info from others with PM Platinum for one in my position. I love the software but know that I am not using it to its full potential. Thanks!
I have printmaster gold deluxe and received in the mail an upgrade for it. My husband accidentally threw it away and would like to purchase it now. Can you tell me how to purchase the upgrade?
Hi! I have PrintMaster Gold Deluxe 4.0. I need some help! On page 16 of the Owner's Manual, there is a train banner. It says toy sale. Underneath, it says, "Try graduated screens to add depth to your banners" -Erin Donahue. I want to make graduated screens on a poster, but I cannot find that information anywhere in the manual or in the help menu. Can anyone help me out??? Thank you very much and Have a wonderful Holiday season to all!

Recently I did a sign on pmg4.0 and tried to fax it to my mom. She kept receiving the fax cover but never the sign. Does anyone have any ideas on faxing pmg4.0 projects? I hope everyone has a wonderful New Years!!
I have Printmaster 4.0 and I have all of the CD's plus National Geographic, I never change them, I have the Juke Box. It is a PANASONIC CD ROM Changer 5 disk 4x4, Cost 99.98 plus delivery charge. The one I bought is a Panasonic item # 6406-570769 from Damark, Inc. at 1-800-827-6767. The price is about. Maurice told me about it.
It works great.
Amy, I have just recently learned how to download from the internet. It is a litle trickier if you are on AOL. If you still need help, e-mail me at the above address and I will help out.
Hi Don, you must Add a Picture, the green monitor on the far left of your screen, and then go to File. I have done this many times by accident and I know better. Give it a try.

Hello..My mother-in-law has PMg4 and is not on the net. After she saves a project it is not in her "Your own folder"...She can find them on her hard drive, but not through pmg4. Does she need to create a new " your projects folder"? If so how?
Will she need the patch and how can she get it?(she is not online) I hope you can help..Thanx
Salley, it is too bad that you are disappointed in your PrintMaster program. The reason that is runs off the program disk is that it contains too many files/information to install all on your hard disk. The program disk itself has around ten thousand graphics. What I do when I am in a hurry and do not feel like swapping disks, I select "PrintMaster" from the where to search selection, that way only graphics on the first disk will appear and you will not be asked to swap disk. One of the great features of PrintMaster are ALL of the really nice quality graphics. In order to bring you that many top quality graphics, it requires extra disks to store the images on. Most people's hard drives could not store that much information, or it would slow down their systems way too much. If you are that unhappy with the program and how it works, you can consider the multi-disk holder that others use. Good luck! :-)
Tom,
Thank you for the reply this will help out tremendously. Have a great day!
Hi...When I'm doing a poster in pmg4.0 and I want to put a picture that I scanned, thats in a different file, I go to OPEN then OPEN FROM DISK, and then look for the file, click on it and the picture will show up. Now when I do that I get a error message that reads: "AN UNEXPECTED ERROR OCCORRED WHILE READING c:\windows\system\cacolor\ "
I have done this many times without the message and it has worked just fine, but now get the message. ANY HELP.... Thanks Don
Hi Lynn. Thanx for the suggestion on serching the web for clip art. Couldn't find what I was looking for tho. Will just have to keep searching among users of other DTP software. Hi Shirley. Disregard my post futher down the board concerning your wallpaper answer. Contacted my personal tech support (my son is a programmer with the USAF) and he showed me where to find "paint". Haven't tried it yet, but intend to. Thanx again, Lynn and Shirley.
Hi Maurice. I agree with Salley it's a pain shuffling disks in PMG4. From what I read here about Platinum, it must be even worse. Did someone say something about six discs? You had a message a week or two ago about an add on CD changer or some such. Could you run it again, please? Hope everyone had a Happy New Year. Thanx, Frank
I just bought printmaster gold deluxe and for the price that I paid for it, I am very disappointed to say the least! Although the program itself is good, the sad part is the constant reshuffling of disks to the cd drive.
Every time I try to run the program from windows 95, the darn thing asks me to put the orginal cd in my drive first. Then when I run the program, it constantly has me shuffling between the two clip art disks and the main program disk. I just want the whole thing on my hard drive with no disk shuffling. Is there any fix to this or am I stuck.....or should I try to get my money back and or trash the program?
Hello All
This is all new to me and I have been wondering about the Victorian 1-5 that I orderded for my Printmaster Gold Delux 4.0. The pictures look grainy, and they print out that way too. I am really disappointed in the quality of the pictures. Am I doing something wrong, or is there something I can do to improve the print quality? I have a Hewlett Packard Deskjet 639C printer. It prints everything else beautifully. I'll bet this has been answered before, but this is the first time I have read th post. Thank you for any help you might be able to give. Also thanks so much for the information about how to change printer setting so pictures will print closer to edges of card. I had always wondered about that.

Hi Denise, ever since the last upgrade of the PM home page, the Wall of Fame has not been seen anymore. Nor do they announce any new contests. I think the people at PM did not see any great enthusiasm on our part to participate in it. I remember, for example, that a lady at Mindscape once asked us on the chat room to submit our most outrageous projects we ever designed. I sent one in, and probably was the only one, because I never heard anything more about it. Maurice.
Rick, just hold down the "Shift" key during your resizing and the original proportions will be maintained without distortion.
Linda,
There are a few really fun programs to work with if you enjoy fooling around with pictures. Microsoft Picture It just came out with version 2 which is a lot of fun you can add your childs face to the front of Mt. Rushmore. you can also distort pictures for some pretty strange effects. Adobe Photo Deluxe is another one that does about the same offering a few different options. some other ones available are I photo express and MGI photo Suite. If you have a scanner it makes it real easy to do a lot of the projects, some of them allow you to make your own sports cards for kids and magize covers etc... Have fun!!!! Doreen
