Glenn, Glenn, Glenn, I was able to brighten some scans from magazines and such to the point that no background was printed then increase the contrast so the type showed up fine. *Your shorts?! Oh no! I thought YOU had them. LOL

Now, I know I haven't been around much lately. But the last time I remember it had something to do with SOCKS. Now, come to find out, SHORTS are also involved. This mystery is deepening. However, I did see a clue. Upon returning from my Saturday walk by the bay, the mailman stood with a box labeled "SHORTS, OPEN AT YOUR OWN RISK." Glenn, I have no idea what you are up to but I think it's not computing. I quickly gave the postman Daisy's EMail address and told him that she is in charge of the missing items of clothing. Cheers. Melissa, I just read parts of what you are trying to do can you scan the cake save it as a bitmap then open it in PMW and if you go to attributes you can change it to about a 15 or 20% gray and that will allow you to put your chart over top of the cake? hope that helps or works... Happy Mothers Day to all of you wonderful Moms out there especially the ones who have been searching for all of the lost socks!!!! Glad summer is coming soon we can all wear sandles... Doreen

On 2nd thought, print the chart first...? 3rd thought - Since it is a scanned image you might be able to use the photo enhancer to lighten the image so the background is white and then increase the contrast so the text shows up. I used to do this in Ulead iphoto when I had it installed.

Print the Cake. Put the paper back in the printer the same way and print the chart. You may want to lighten the cake graphic so the chart shows over top of it.

Hi Milissa, I think what is happening is the same thing that happen to me. When I scan a picture in if it isn't the whole pape then the rest become a white background and it isn't transparent. What I have to do it take it to a photo program and crop out everything except what I want to show up. Some of these programs also have a transparent choice. When you go to custom color it is a new time each time but if you select all the colors you might want to use a one time they will all be added at the bottom when you go back again it will reset to the first one again but the others will still be there.... I hope this is clear but if you try it you'll understand better... Thanks Sharon

Daisy, I don't think that what I want to do will work. I thought Glenn's idea would work but the chart blocks out the cake underneath. Tracey Open a new project (card, poster, etc.) Click on the Picture Icon. In the Art Gallery put ALL in each of the windows. Then type the words GRADIENT BLEND in the search window and click on FIND NOW. You will be presented with several gradients. (Additional search words are Center Out, Outside In, and Outside in Rainbow) These are not brought up under gradient blend and will have to be entered in search separately. Center out is most useful. Remember that color is not important. You need to click on the one that has the effect you want to create. Then click on SELECT. The gradient will then appear in your project. Size it to fit the page.(or beyond)............. To change the color click on the paint can. Select a color from the palette. Then click on MORE. You will get a rainbow palette with the color you selected as the starting point. You can move the cross hairs to any color you like. Move the slider on the right side to lighten the color. This is to make it more usable as a background. Experiment to get just the color you want. When satisfied click on OK. The color possibilities are virtually limitless. .......................

I am only able to get ONE reinking from a cartridge. When it is refilled the second time, using the exact same steps, I either get nothing or banding. This is with topping off the cartridge at the one quarter to one half mark. It happens with both the color and the black. Several (eight to ten cleanings does not solve the problem) and only uses up more ink.

Hi Friends, and particularly Helga if I remember correctly. I am still trying to get hold of the archives which include the dates of April 15th through 18th. I inadvertently sent them off to lost file Heaven and have not been able to retrieve them. What I desperatly need right now are the instructions which someone (Helga, I think), posted for sending a PM online card. I am desperate to get one in the e-mail to a person who will probably not see much of summer, much less another Mother's Day. But those instructions are the ones lost. If anyone can help me out with those ASAP, I would be SO appreciative. Thanks good folks. Jean

May 09, 1998 (11:50 AM PDT)

Dear Jocelyn and Michael: I am adding my congratulations to those other PM chat room who have been following your every move. I am delighted that everything is OK. Problem 1: I am trying to make a banner for my daughter's 5th-grade classroom wall. She wants a woodgrain back and a late 1800s font (I used Rodeo) to make the sign for the store window. The problem is that the woodgrain background I have a left border background, with only the left the woodgrain. So I opened a banner and repeated the woodgrain several times horizontally, each time covering the yellow in the rest of that image. Then I placed the sign wording on top of that. When I went to print a trial tile, the sign text comes out fine, but there is no background. The image is quite a bit higher than could be accommodated within the upper and lower banner margins. I didn't think that would be a problem. I have been sitting here for almost 4 hours now, trying different things. If I alter the % down from 100%, it will print a woodgrain background, but only about 2 inches high. I do want the text to occupy a good 7-1/2 to 8" of the vertical banner margins, but I am running out of time on a VERY BUSY DAY already. In order to keep the proportion, I want it to be 1 tile high in order to fit properly in her "window" she is constructing. But to do that, it wants to make it 22 tiles across. I would be delighted to just stop the printer when I get to the place where I have all of the text printer. But she can't handle anyting more than about 3-1/2 to 4 tiles wide (which isn't a problem: Her text fits fine within those dimensions. I'll have to ask you about the second problem later. I need to get this one straigtened out right away! Thanks good folks for trying to help. Most cordially, Jean

Two days ago, I refilled my Epson 800 color cartridge for the third time. With the use of a needle and syringe, I filled each compartment very slowly and let the cartridge sit for two hours before reinstalling it back into the printer. I ran it through the cleaning cycle three times, and the print output was fine. That same evening (10 hours after refilling), the output showed missing lines. A nozzle check revealed horizontal gaps in magenta and yellow. After three more print head cleanings, printing was all right again. Last night, the same thing happened: missing lines in output which were fixed by cleaning the print heads. Also, nozzle check showed horizontal gaps again in magenta and yellow. Any ideas on why the magenta and yellow colors seem to stop flowing? Any suggestion on how resolve this problem? I need to shop for a Mother's Day gift and will check back later. Thanks. BTW, the printer is fixed again, but I can't tell what was wrong. You good people would be ROTFLOL....L8R.....Helga=^..^=

So after Jocelyn started to conk out after all the hoopla was over, I came back here & uploaded the photos I took with my camcorder. Only took 15 minutes or so. I was in the middle of updating my website with new printmaster stuff when Jocelyn called and away I went. Got there in time, but they weren't going to wait for me! The adventure begins!! Thanks for all the well-wishes! Michael & Jocelyn.

Wow! Thanks to all for caring and sharing notes about your furry pals. They have really brightened my otherwise dismal day. I feel like I have friends here, it's a good feeling! Non pet lovers can't understand how much they get to be part of the family - unfortunately, I have to include my SO in that group, but to his credit, he cried too when I had to bring her. Larry> now I know how YOU felt ... BTW did you get my E-mail THIS time???

OK...who's the official one that's going to let us all know about the triplets, that is besides Michael? I can just see him now, last one is out, he leans over and gives Jocelyn a little peck on the cheek, and off to the computer he goes to jump on the chat and update his page. Linda, so sorry to hear about your little friend. I had to do that last July with Gin-Gin that I'd had since she was 3, she was 15 when I had to let her go. 2 days later, we saved another little one that had her D-day coming up in 3 days from then at the shelter. We hadn't planned to add to the family that quickly, but she needed a family and we needed a little furry one. It helped me get through the sorrow a little easier, having a little one to hold on to and catch my tears. Best wishes to you.

Hello Melissa if you have the project the way you want it in Excell, print it and scan it into PM Then you can right click on the graphic select Position then select full page. You might try this last part before you scan. It will probably work.

OK, Maurice...Read your post about the installation that will give me the file this expensive, "with everything we could possibly want" machine does not have. Now, I have a new problem. What is Visual Basic and what are MPEG movies? One would think that after all the files I had searched today, that I would have come across them but if there is anything I have learned from dealing with a computer it is to take NOTHING for granted. The minute you do, it reaches out and takes away what you have been working on! I'll bet you wish Stuart never posted the Tgard site...eleanor.

I am kinda disappointed, Maurice, that they can't be your socks, since you don't wear any, cause I had visions of dancing in them. Maurice, what did you think of the ballroom competition on Wednesday nite. I watched enthralled. Did you have a favorite? Michael, I hope the waiting is about over. My twins, at work, were a year old today and I surely miss my camcorder that was stolen a year ago. They are so entertaining that if I had them living here, I wouldn't ever have to watch tv again! But it's just as hard to see them suffer, knowing they won't get better. I vowed I'd never get another--but in a month I had a puppy, Manchester Terrier named Sammy. And boy is he spoiled! They'll think they are all gone until they run out of underwear. ha ha * Serious Question - PM does not recognize ZIP drive. Tells me check if the door is close or disk is inserted.
