HI! This is my first time on this list. We recently purchased PrintMaster Premier 4.0. The problem I am having is accessing any graphics from the 3 extra CD's. I have been trying to get to a drum set in the Music section of the Cd labelled Art & Photos CD 2. If I open a project and try to find that , the program brings up the graphics that fit that description from the main CD that runs the program. It gives me a selection of 6 pages, which, BTW, only goes to 5 before there are no more (28 of the 32 show). I have selected the CD that it should be on but if I try to put that CD in the computer, it asks for the program cd. I have tried everything I can think of to access this. Anyone else had this problem? I sure could use some help. I am downloading the patch as I type. Maybe that will somehow fix my problem. I will check back tomorrow to see if anyone had any input. TIA!!!

Hi RYKESH - I hope you get help from someone more computer hip than me. I wasn't aware there were e-mail cards that could be printed out. Am only familiar, so far, with the animated kind, which can be kept in a special folder in 'mail'. Some, like regular store-bought cards, are great to save, or even better, to remail to others. One particular one has been making the rounds for weeks, routed through faraway places. Hope you get the advice you need. Luck! M.

Pat (halfhour@idirect.com)--what are we going to do with you woman!! DO NOT uninstall the program....this will not solve the problem. go to: http://home.pacbell.net/tom_boy/ go to the printmaster page. you will see instructions for deleting the userproj. files. don't worry that it mentions an error message, it will still solve the problem you are having. after you delete the userproj. files from user001, delete that folder, then delete the userproj. files from user000. restart printmaster. follow onscreen prompts. if you are not using a ver 4 program, you will have to find your saved projects by "open from disk".

Joan (Jonifi@aol.com) Make it easy on yourself, go to a local store that sells software, preferably something like a costco, sam's club, best buy, wal-mart, etc. right now, there is also a $30 rebate on the program. if the rebate card has a different $ amount, scratch it off and write in $30. the rebate has also been extended until sept. 15th. from what i hear, alot of people are getting great bargains by purchasing it at a store rather than through the mail. you will also get an image index, which for some weird reason, was not included in the mail order product. i don't know why, but it wasn't.

Great Sandi, I glad it worked out for you and the CD-Rom changing its drive letter is fairly common with "add-on Zips and removable drives like your SparQ drive". To change the drive letter assignment just go to MY COMPUTER / CONTROL PANEL/ SYSTEM then click on the Device Manager tab. Click the plus sign next to the type of drive, and then double-click CD-ROM. Next click Settings, and then change the drive letter back to G in BOTH boxes at the bottom where it says Reserved Drive Letters. Click OK and reboot the system and you should be back to where you were with your CD-ROM as drive G.…..Way to go friend!….

Hi Pat & all - So, what time is it in Burlington, Pat? Right here, right now it's 8:32 pm on the clock with the battery. All of the rest tell different stories. Twilight Zone! The comparison of computers to cats is scarey. After all, cats purr not only when contented but also when in severe pain! And my puter's purring just fine. Since we too 'having a heat-wave' our kits have discovered ceiling fans. Fun to watch them trying to attack! The puter isn't nearly as entertaining - the sound FX aren't coming through. Something I did, undoubtedly. ?!? HAPPY FATHERS DAY ALL YOU DADS! Sent son-in-law #1 e-postcards from 'Oh, My Goodness'. Son-in-law #2 will have to read his at a neighbours. And Son would be shocked to have old Mum send anything of the sort ... just as his Dad would. The latter got a Chinese New Year 'card' from a different site. Read it. Then went back to watching golf on TV. Speaking of cards, anyone familiar with AOpenrack and FX-3D sound systems? Mayre the #@%&!!#!

Kitty - I think what Larry may have missed (but I won't point it out to him, because Martians hate to admit they make mistakes <LMAO>) is that you are trying to do it on ONE phone line. While many ISP's will let you be online w/ 2 computers at the same time (at least both mine and my SO's will) I don't think there is a way to do it with them both on the same line. The 2nd computer won't be able to dial - don't know what would happen if you dialed them both at the same time... Now if in fact **I** have made a mistake, I'm sure some Martian will be sure to point it out! LOL

Hi Kathy - I know you already got a couple responses to your question, and my apologies if you've already got it straightened out. While you can't physically (or at least not easily) save your projects in different areas, you can View all your cards, posters, newsletters separately if you want. The way I do it, is to be sure and include what type of project it is in the KEYWORD field when you Save it(ie. if you are working on a card, make sure one of the keywords is CARD). Then when you choose Your Own, put CARD in the keyword field and you will be shown ONLY the CARDS. I worked w/ version 3 before this one and it DID save the projects each in a different folder, but it WAS A REAL PAIN if you wanted to do Back-ups because you had to back-up each individual folder. This way you Back-up ONE folder and you get ALL you projects. Have fun...

We all have our limitations and making a slave of a hard drive by going on what someone tells me quickly in a chat room is a limit for me. Now, give me a book with step-by-step directions and clear illustrations and time with no children, husbands, dogs, or cats around me and I'd probably give it a try. On the other hand, in the time it would take to get both hard drives hooked up and running I could have all my programs installed and files transferred the old fashioned way. Thanks Kitty from me and all the Fathers out there in cyberspace and (home).(L) Understand your reluctance and then I would just install programs today than you wish on your new machine. When it becomes convenient to do so, then take both machines or your new machine and your "slave drive" to someone who is comfortable with the procedure to do it for you. I was apparently unclear in my directions and I apologize. Understand about the "life line" phenomena. To move/save bookmarks, just go to Netscape folder (that is if you are using Netscape(G) and then USERS folder, then your net name folder (raptors2 in my case). Once in "your name" folder you will see the file called bookmarks. Copy to a floppy and they will be saved for a rainy day (sorry) and for transfer to your new PC….Depending on your server (some can detect and some cannot) will determine whether you can have two machines on at the same time. On way I know is to network your machines or to use two different phone connections for both machines to be online at the same time with one ISP…….Yes, unplug the CD rom POWER and IDE ribbon cable (for now) and plug your old (slave) drive in those sockets for the transfer…..Going to get new tires for my truck now..back later…..larry

Morning Kitty, and how is Bill this fine F Day and how is the weather in PA? What I recommend now is to take your hard drive out of your other machine, check the label/decal for jumper settings, make it your "slave" drive, and hook up the power and IDE ribbon cable. You can just unplug the CD-Rom and use that same IDE cable and power cable to make things easier. When you temporarily install your "slave drive" make sure none of the controller board connections (on the bottom of the hard drive) touch any metal on the case. Turn on the new machine and hit the delete key to get into the CMOS (complementary metal oxide) and then tab to the "auto detect hard drives" section. One it detects your "slave drive" you exit WITH save and the machine will reboot now KNOWING it has a second or "slave" drive. All you do now is "drag and drop" your personal DATA files over the drive in the new/improved machine. Simple eh?….If you wish you could install the programs you presently have on the "old" PC on your "new" PC and then drag the file folders over to the corresponding programs on your "new" PC……Have fun….Larry

To do so, open the PMW folder located on the hard drive you installed to (probably the C). Are you familiar with using Windows Explorer (the one that replaced program manger in 3x)? Open Explorer and find the PMW folder and delete all files EXCEPT (<very important here) the YELLOW folders. When finished, close Explorer and reinstall your new PrintMaster 4, most all prefer the increased features and graphics of 4.0 (one note of dissatisfaction is that in version 3 the graphic files were accessible by other programs and in version 4 Mindscape saw fit to not allow this feature, moral (keep version 3 for use in Word and graphics programs without having to play the "copy and paste" routine. Perhaps in version 7 they have seen fit to allow us to access them once again (but I doubt it)…..Lynn Campbell Behnke, a very sincere HAPPY 23rd anniversary, and we also give automotive advice here (right Glenn?)(g)….. jim, thank you for the chat archives once again friend….. Connie, the ink acts as the "coolant" so print away! (only when you see skipping are the print heads running hot)….. sadly I have NO good deals to report this fine Sunday morning…..Happy Father's Day to all and thanks to you ladies who wishes the same for us!…….Larry

Printer gurus, if I'm doing a LOT of printing do I need to let the printer or printheads cool down once in a while or anything like that to keep from wearing them out. Am using my second cartridge I refilled, works like a breeze. I forgot to say I have a Canon 4200, no 4300 printer. I'm printing off about 100 Creole mini bibles for a group from our church to take to an orphanage in Haiti. I'm sure glad I bought that double reinking kit! Maurice do you know Creole, or anyone else? Would like a translation of a few more words that I don't have.

Hi Sharon, the posting was meant to entertain the troops (more chit than chat) and went something like this "I received a flier from a friend in Alaska. It warns tourists there to wear small bells on their clothing. This to ward off bears. But the flier admonishes that this will not work for grizzlies. But it is easy to spot if grizzlies are around. You just examine their droppings. You invariably will find small bells in them." Maurice.

Eleanor, how many graphics in your version? In my version, with all windows in "All" and the search window empty, at the bottom of the Art Gallery it says I have 34,225.

Kathy, Since my album frequently gets corrupted if I save too many Printmaster Projects, I created another directory called PrintMaster Backups and have used it happily for over a year. After I have a few projects saved, I used File Manager (in Win 3.1) and Windows Explorer (in Win95) and moved them to there. Of course, it's an extra step, having to Open from disk, but I have them sorted: Family, Sunday School, Girl Scouts, Business, etc. You could just as easily sort them by Card, Poster, etc. Just name the groups anything you like. Guess it's hard to tell on the net but don't take anything I say TOO seriously, unless it's something like "my dog died" but then she didn't, but she did eat one of Rob's lures and we had to take her to the vet to get the hook out of her lip. She's only 7 weeks old so it was pretty tramatic, plus the other treble got stuck in the skirt of the chair and she was attached to it while we were at work. We had to cut the chair to get her lose. The lure was a Zara Puppy so we named her Zara.... Now that story is serious. Love ya, Peter. Connie

Hello Manuel, I have PMGold 4.0 and a HP660c Deskjet. I've made a few T-shirts for the kids. Here's how i did it. To change the Graphics you need to go to "Mirror" or "Flip". Practice on regular paper first. When you have printed your graphics. Hold the paper up toward a light with the Graphics side facing away from you. This is how it will look on a T-shirt. Also when you go to print on T-shirt Transfer paper. Make sure print is set on Premium inkjet (or Special Paper). Also make sure Print Quality is set on Presentation (or best). I hope this has helped you. And good luck. Gregg

After you group then there will be one big box around all then go to the right where you see the triangles and find the one Mirror, click and the whole design should flip. have fun.. That way if you want to send it to some in E Mail all you have to do is copy and paste. To print just one posting highlight it and paste it into word pad and print it. If you are using IE4.0 as a browser you can highlight it and right click on it and select print. Then when your printer dialogf box comes up select print selection.
