Can anyone tell me again what size needles and syringes I need to buy to add to my reinking kit so that I won't have wash between colors. Had no problem reinking my Canon 4200 but didn't like having to wash needle constantly. Call me lazy.
Connie
Daisy, Michelle. Thanx for the smiles, I'm still laughing!
Thanks Larry - I think you told me what I needed to hear. I'll support this ambitious woman in other ways, but not if it means new carpets and/or printer. Had no idea the profit was better on refilled jobbies. Live and learn. Today I was pressed to buy a scanner, and, as mentioned in another posting, I'd just bought one from the nice, low-keyed young fellow who is now my service man. Hyper people make me twitch! BIG HINT HERE for BEGINNERS at ANYTHING: When being shown how to use some pricey item you've purchased, keep a tape recorder at hand. Tape the installer and your own responses. Works wonders! Oooh, and no Larry, I didn't get my list. How was it sent ... by telepathy? Hang on, I'll adjust my antenna ... Come on lad! Spaak lowder! Weer ista? :-} Mayre
Mayre, Why don't you keep a log of your slow serve time and tell them that you shouldn't have to pay for that time. They may laugh in your face but they may give you that time. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
Hi all, I want to send a card to my brother and He can get attachments but he doesn't have PM. Would someone be so kind as to walk me through the method so that I can send it email. then It won't matter that he is 4500 miles from here and I am still waiting for my ink (and will probably not be able to use it right away since I will have to learn what I am doing). THanks in advance
EVERY one was bought off of a different guy, and i don't trust this one.
Hello again Pat - Server problems? Here it has been wicked. First, you can't get through. Then, upon succeeding, you're stuck with a cached copy. And then a fault message for every bookmark you try from favourites (like this one) to pongy ones that should be deleted. After connecting, it took me 20 min. to get on this site ... and I pay by the hour! Ah, well, never mind. You and I will keep at it, won't we? Will buzz you later to nag ... OK? :-] Mayre
Helga, only different ones I have are.... =^,.^=..winking cat, .... =^%^= cross-eyed cat, =^$$^=....rich cat, and, =(^..^)=...fat cat.
Hi Larry. Only partners in this house, no master, no slave (VBG). I don't complain when he buys "me" all of the neat fishing gear, I know that he'll use it :-) and he never complains when I buy for the computer. He paid for my Sparq drive, so I guess it's not really fair on my part to make it sound like he only buys me fishing gear. I actually enjoy fishing, only go for the small ones though, I'd have to toss the pole and all in if a big one got on my line (LOL). I take a book too, a lap top would be nice though. That would equal a lot of fishing gear though. Maybe a good book will do for awhile. Thanks again. Sandi
1.) Word does have a DOS version. 2.) You can make a shortcut to DOS programs on your desktop too. My kids do it all the time with their games. When you double click it automatically goes to DOS or a DOS window whichever you have specified. 3.) If you have WIN 95/98 then why don't you install your Windows programs on it? 4.)Stop buying computers from that guy.
HI Kitty,
Reading down the list quite a way,I see you have enquired about the ink consumption of your Lexmark 7000. I have the same printer, we bought it at Xmas.. You are going to kill me. We are still on the same cartridge. I do quite a lot of printing.. a couple of projects and a few text things basically each day. Yours does seem like maybe you got a dud with that cartridge. Probably can't happen ..BUT... oh .. I do have some good news though! I read in a magazine (tried it and it works perfectly!) that if you download the latest drivers from lexmark.com for the 7200 (yes 7200) .. you can then buy the photo cartridge which replaces the black and has black,lt magenta and lt cyan...and voila you have TRICKED it into being a 7200 instead of the 7000(which wont do the photo ink cartridge without those drivers!) It AMAZED me. I bet there are no other printers that one can trick into an upgrade just like that! I did this about 3 mths ago..and it is absolutely faultless. Try it.. photos come out with better halftones and look just magic!
Good luck.. Lindy
Hello Mayre, IMO if your friend is a friend, then she will cease to coerce you into using her reinking service. While I am a very strong advocate in reinking/refilling there are those who feel as you, that the risks are not worth the savings. We all have our "comfort zones" and when you become sick and tired of paying approximately 3 to 4 times what reinking costs you may then change your mind and perhaps even do your own refilling. I'm with you 100%. The NEW cartridges from your friend do not come NEAR making her the profit as does selling REFILLED cartridges so IMO that is why she might PUSH for you to purchase refilled ones. Then too, I could be full of it too! (L)…..Did you get your list?….Later, Larry
Thanks Helga, guess idirect got it fixed. Thanks again. Pat
There's a test on it's way, Pat...
Could someone please e-mail me at the above address I'm having problems with it and want to know if it is fixed. Thanks Pat
Hi Peter, here are the cyber kitties....=^..^= content cat.....>^..^< happy cat......=^-.-^= sleepy cat......=^!!^= mad cat.....(^oo^)~ playful cat......{^..^}~ fluffy cat......>^o,o^< hungry cat....{^OO^}~ startled cat. Would love to have some additional faces and their meanings... FRANK, I think you used to have a different cyber kitty. Do you still have it and what was its meaning? ......MAURICE, thanks for the test. Now I know why I can't draw anything but sticks without the help of computers; my right side is at only 28.6%. At least the left side is at 71.4%, and it's save for me to continue balancing the checkbook. I better get going; too many things to do and not enough time.....Helga>^..^<
I want to delete about 100 fonts since they just use up space. Some of the fonts probably come from PMG, PSP, CCG2, or Corel Magic. Will I have problems running the programs if I delete the fonts? Also, I thought I read that certain fonts should never be deleted. Which ones were they? Any other important things I should know about before I start to delete the fonts? Since I couldn't find an answer at Michael's web site, I sure could use some help.I need to check back later for any suggestions.......MICHAEL G, maybe you can add the answer to your PrintMaster tips. Thanks for all the help............Helga>^.. ^<
Hi M.L. -- I have PMGold and just tried all of the sunflower graphics. Those with instructions to insert Deluxe Art CD1 all came up with no problem for me. I always have to wait a few seconds for the CD to work, but each graphic should be working for you, then, as well. I did not try those that are on the CD 2. I am sure you noticed that there are several for which a notice comes up, when you try to access them, telling you that they are available on another graphics CD not included with ours and is available for sale. Eleanor
Hi again Sandi, and you are most welcome for the assistance. Was I clear enough in my instructions for Mike and are you now slave/master, master/slave? The fishing vs computer thing sounds interesting and here is a thought. What if YOU bought something (insert "whatever" here) and then HE bought something (insert fishing gear or whatever here)? Seems to me like THAT would be a welcome compromise to both would it not?…or did I miss something? <vbg>….Keep us posted as we ALL seem to have something to learn from each other…(Mars/Venus)…grinnin in sunny CA…Larry…PS a laptop eh? My Mrs. reads while the boys and I fish.

No, Frank, YOU don't have an accurate picture of the computer situation in this house. We started in November with a 486, then tried two others. Finaly bought this one new at a 'puter show in FEB. I have been using it since. Bill, then bought another. Didn't like and bought another and sold the first. THIS one was the one described. It does have windows 95, but all the programs are unaccessable from there, you have to go into dos to make them work and he also has trouble getting it to recognize the modem. Sometimes it will and sometimes it won't. he checked if it was well seated and it is. He was very frusterated. IS very frusterated, so we went and got the new one. It is Also built by some guy, and he has installed a prototype of win 98 on it so I guess that makes me uneasy. It has the 4gig. So we are two people in this house and 4 computers. Two for sale. Want 'em?
Well, I now have Adobe Photo Shop version 4.0, and Hijaak Pro. Can anyone walk me through the steps to drop out, for example, the white background around a graphic, make it transparent, and pull it into PrintMaster Platinum so that it will stay transparent and not go back to opaque white. I don't find anything in the Adobe User's Guide that seems to simply tell me how to do that.
Thanks!
HI....Can anyone help????? I have misplaced my post that told me how to copy my files. Did it awhile back and can't remember. I want to copy my file in C:\windows\fonts. Thanks Don
Thanks to Jill and nameless for your help but still having problems. Installed two NEW cartridges, black is now fine (no lines) and the red and Yellow are fine but the blue has HOT PINK stripes going through it. My gages don't seem to be working so didn' know I was low on ink. Any ideas? Please keep it simple . Thanks a million,Myra
Mayre, I have a Canon 620 and have been reinking successfully for several months. Had a few problems at first but not anymore. This is one happy reinker. Larry thanks for your help. Have to tell ya though, Mike (hubby) read your e-mail this morning and just shook his head, wondering what I'm up to now. Looks like a trip to our new Bass Pro Outdoor World might be in order. I just know that there's some new lure, pole, reel or something there that he thinks "I" need go fishing. Some how most of "my" tackle ends up in his box. When he empties mine out I'm going to put a Lap Top in it :-). His has his toys and I have mine. Maurice glad to have you back. Would you please include me on the list of people for the program. Sorry to hear about your Crash. How's the new hardrive? I saw it at Sams Club yesterday. Let me know how you like. I might just go back and take another look. Of course not until "I" have all of the latest and greatest fishing equipment I need :-) Gals ya just gotta keep the guys happy. Sandi
Hello Peter. Yes I own and have used Drive Copy both at home and work and have 100% success with it as long as you go with the same motherboard and/or chipset. Other chipsets have a 50/50 chance of working as the CMOS and chipsets are sometimes vastly different even though say, both are made by Intel. (ie. HX, VX, TX et al) Drive Copy is made by PowerQuest located @ http://www.powerquest.com/and does hard drive to hard drive copying. If you plan on going from a 486 to a Pentium I or II, I would just slave/master and copy your DATA files over and then reinstall the old drive back into your 486 and sell it or use it for a backup….Larry
Hi Larry! Drive Copy, huh, sounds interesting. Have you tried it w/ good experience? For 20$, it sure seems like a much better choice than LapLink, or? Do you know of their homepage? FYI, I plan to buy a new computer soon instead of the tired 486 / 120 MHz system that I have now. At that point, I need to copy a lot of user data onto the new system, either with an external Zip drive that I already have (but it´s sooo slow!), or with something like Drive Copy. BTW, can you choose certain folder contents or does it only copy the whole hard disk? Pls adv. :-) Peter
TYVM, friends. LMAO. I only wish that Helga would post her cat acronyms again, I forgot to copy them as usual.
:-) Peter
Kitty, 'Twere it me, after paying 600 bucks, I would take it back and tell him to either load Win95 on it or provide the CD so you could do it yourself. Does he drive a Packard, or an Edsel?
Hi there, Kitty! Re: Bill´s computer. How about making a Format C:\ from the C:\ prompt. That will remove everything on the hard disk and you can start fresh with installing Windows. Be sure to back up data files first, which you might need later and see to it that you have the program disks available that you want to install. Don´t think you would destroy anything on yr nes computer. Do you have Win 95 installed? Then go to Control Panel, choose System, "Unit Handler" and click on disks. The hard disk type might (just might) show up there (or it says "Generic type 46" or something, which doesn´t tell the manufacturer´s name or type). In the latter case, the easiest thing to do would be to open the case (first shut down the computer and pull the cord plug) and look for the label on the hard disk, if it´s visible. If not, you can always remove it to look for the label. In such case, pls advise and I can inform on how to proceed. It´s not difficult at all. Toodle-oo, Peter :-)
I just changed the cartridge in my printer Lexmark 1000 and now it is printing the text yellow. Have spent an hour with the on line guide but it tells me nothing. HELP. PAT
Make that a 120 Mhtz MMX
Daisy, on that computer even Word is installed in Dos, I don't know how, but i think the why is that he is older and used to dos and trusts it more but the computer wont even recognize the modem half the time and is a real pain to use even though it is a 1.6 gig, 233MMX computer and should be as good as this one. and faster too. (THIS is a 12MMX)
Frank - I've been wrong several times ... just check my former postings for proof. However, in real life, my hubby claims I only allow myself to be wrong three times a year. Well, that's if I can manage three times ... (VBG) Mayre
Frank - Thank you for the info. I appreciate you taking the time. I'm off the Arts Club, and the 'Inker' will be there, so I'll stall her a bit longer. She honestly seems to know her stuff, but ... Incidentally, one and all, this town of less than 14,000 has an arts community that boggles the mind. One man came here for one year, just to paint the scenery then return 'south' to flog his work. But, everything he painted was sold right here to tourists and locals. Needless to say, he and his writer wife have put off leaving. Experimental artists don't do well, but the give-em-what-they-want sharpies do very nicely. I'm aiming for a middle ground. Some day, somehow ... meanwhile I must go and talk art for a while. TTFN ... Mayre
Mayre. I have a HP 660C. I don't re-ink, but from what I've seen here, Epson and Cannon are the problem printers. Can't recall anyone having a problem with any HP. 'Course I was wrong once, before (VBG)
Hello all! A friend in our small town has started a business. Among other things, she will reink cartridges. I use a HP-DJ-600C. From what I've learned through other users, reinking is not a good idea. With new carpets and a printer I love, I'm not all that keen on taking chances. This gal is on the defensive, since she needs the business. I'll happily purchase NEW cartridges from her, but that doesn't seem to suit. Would appreciate any feedback. I usually stock up on cartridges in the 'big city', but like to shop locally, as mentioned. Last Christmas, all my 'grands' got cards with Magenta Santas. My colour cartridge was coughing up its last. Larry, still waiting ... TTFN ... Mayre
M. L. just popped in for lunch, and saw your post. Which "sunflower" were you trying to access? There are a couple that are available in the graphics catalog only, so can't be accessed unless you have purchased them. In my version of PMG 4.0, I have two disks, one labeled "Install Me", and the other labeled "Deluxe Art & Projects". Two of the sunflowers I selected asked for the Arts & Projects" CD. All sunflowers loaded fine. Later, Frank
Make that 2 rights... S**
Send it to me too Maurice, I have heard that the right side of your brain is creative and the left logical. I must have to rights and no left. Least ways that's what my SO sayes.(LOL).....Sharon**
If you have to go to DOS to run the programs then those are DOS programs not windows programs. Install PrintMaster and see how it runs.
Sounds very interesting-please send it to me at the above address. Thanks-Donna
Kitty,
The program had been installed, and we had no trouble until we decided to add a graphic of a sunflower to the inside of the card. A window appeared instructing us to insert disk 1 , which we did. We tried it several times, and failed to access the graphic each time. That particular CD just "wouldn't work"!
Perhaps tech help can walk Char through the process and help her determine what is going on...Thanks, M.L. By the way, does PM provide good tech help, and is it difficult to get in contact with them?
M.L. (Mlcook2@aol.com)& Char:
I need to know if you are using Platinum or Deluxe 4.0. There was a difficulty with the Platinum after the latest burn. The label was changed on the program CD and made it difficult to read some of the CD's, art #1 was one of them. Did you say that some of the graphics were accessible? If so, try the following: go into windows explorer, open the pmw folder, click on Tools(menu bar),select find|files or folders. Type in:pmw.ini and press enter on the keyboard. When the file is found, double click on it to open it. Under the configuration header [configuration]type in:UseDDBs=0. Be sure to use a zero, not the letter o.close the window and save the changes. restart printmaster and see if that works.
Frank and Larry especially, I am starting to get scared of this new computer. What if I get everything transfered over and it doesn't work properly? Bill, bought a computer built by some guy that works for IBM or something and the idiot installed all the programs in DOS. You have to get out of windows 95 and into DOS to do ANYthing. and you know how hard it is to navigate in DOS.... I'm not saying that that will be the case here, but I have heard that if things aren't installed right then the computer won't work right and I am so worried that it won't work for me. Also what if he has installed one of these junk hard drives that you were talking about? How do I know I haven't just bought a 600 dollar paper weight? Guys? Anybody?
M.L. I don't know if this will help but did you wait til the light went out on the CD-Rom? I had a lot of trouble until I did that. Also the first disk is called number 1 in PMP and I imagine it is in the other versions too. Did you have the "install this" disk 1 in or was it the other one.
Good morning everybody, I have a program written by a psycho-analyst that examines if you are predominantly left- or right brain oriented. This is no toy, but a serious program. You answer several multiple questions and the program will supply you with a detailed personality analysis, that can be printed out. If you want it, send me a
request at the above e-mail address. The attachment will be 1.6 MB in size, so it will take a few minutes to download. Put the file in C:\TEMP. Then from the desktop, click on START and RUN. Then type in C:\TEMP\BRAINS.EXE and press the ENTER key. Maurice
Frank,
I was at Char's house yesterday working with her using PM Gold 4. When we clicked on a certain sunflower graphic, we were instructed to insert disk 1, "art", I believe. We were not able to access the graphic from that disk . We chose another graphic, accessed that and finished the card. She is asking for help in this chat room to try to figure out why this software is not working as we followed all instructions that were given to us in each window.M.L. (Thanks for your message)
Linda, the text is set at a certain size when you choose your font. If you want it to stretch and shrink with the rest of the card then choose Stretch Text ant the top of the screen A Large T with arrows pointing away from it in all different directions.
Wow, Glenn i LOVE the address that you gave me. Now the Board takes up the whole width of the screen instead of only the right 2/3, MUCH easier to read.
Glenn, When I am in chat this is what is in my Location.... http://www.printmaster.com/pub_club/framsets/index.htm Thanks for the address, I will try it your way.
Kitty, type http://www.printmaster.com/for_cgi/chat.htm in your address line and PM will open without the usual clutter around it. Now book mark that page by right click in a yellow area. Of course if you were book marking www.printmaster .com that is what you will get
Welcome back, Maurice....had wondered where your were. Sent an e-mail to tell you about what turned out to be a brief absence of Live on Sunday. You probably didn't get it or the one telling you it was back. Sorry to hear about your crash but the new HUGE drive just blows my mind! Ours is 4GB and I don't even have it half full. Thanks for posting the new Fulton site, did know it had changed but kept pasting the one I had on here, knew they would transfer it and couldn't remember the URL for the new. Since I bought the book, I don't need to go there for reference. A lot of action on here last night after I had to disconnect because of the storms. Took longer than usual to cruise through this AM. Glad the "kids" found better things to do.CUL...Eleanor
linda, thanx for the memory jog. Read "open palm to forehead" (VBG)
Kitty, Donna, M.L., Pat, Myra. See linda's post, 6-17 4:36 AM PDT. Forgot that part in my directions. Strike this line @ 4". Gotta go open the office.
Don't remember who mentioned printing out lots of draft copies to get alignment straight... What I have found helpful is to create a Line and place it where the program shows the perforated line in the center of the card (that is the part I have the most trouble aligning), then go back and forth to the Print Preview and you can see if your design is centered or not. Will probably save you a couple draft copies at least. Just make sure you Delete the Line before you print. Richard> You can transfer a 1/2 card to a 1/4 and vice versa by opening the Ready Made that you want AND a Start from Scratch card at the same time. Take one page at a time and SELECT ALL and COPY the Ready Made and then go to the blank card and PASTE. Once you have Pasted it, go to the right Tool Bar and select GROUP. Once you have Grouped it hold the Shift button Down and use the mouse to Stretch or Shrink the design to fit in the new space. I have found that you may have to Ungroup it to adjust the Text Boxes individually. Does anyone know why the Text boxes won't adjust w/ the rest of the Group?
Feisty ... that's me ... though I've been called worse (VBG). If your wife has it figured out then maybe I should be chatting w/ HER and not you!
Richard, in the Ready Made Gallery, highlight a card, click "File", "Properties". 1/4 folds have an HCR extension, 1/2 folds have a CAR ext. I have seen posts here from others about moving things from one to the other, but am not familiar with it, because I don't use them, usually "Make My Own" (G) Did you know that anything you save to "Your Projects" will show up in "Ready Mades" also? With all windows in "All" your projects will be ahead of PM's Ready Mades in the Project Gallery. Gotta get ready for work. Later, Frank
What version of Netscape? In 4.05 I just clicked on a yellow part of this page and selected Add Bookmark. Now when I click on that bookmark I come straight in here. (I have both browsers, but I use IE4 the most.)
M. L. I'm not real sure I understand your question about not accessing info from disk 1. Both my disks are red. One is titled "Install Me", and is the "boot disk". It contains all the program files needed to start the program. Every time you "fire up" the program, you access the info on the disk. This is where the "Hub Screen", the "project choice" screens, and the "Art Gallery" screen, just to name a few, get their commands to load from the hard drive. This is probably not the exact way the disk is used, but you get the idea. There could also be some graphics on this disk. Being a former Mindscape empoyee, TomBoy could probably give you a more detailed answer. Hope I haven't confused you further (will that get by the censor?) Later, Frank
when selecting a ready made card, how do you know if it is quarter fold, or half fold?or, can it be either as desired when printing?also, another way to solve the white border problem.... walmart has 24# pastel paper. $2.97 for a pack of assorted co;ors.. just a thought..
Incase anyone is interested, Wal Mart carries 24lb. Heavyweight Invitation Envelopes. 5 1/2. 4 3/8" x 5 3/4". The 1/4 fold cards fits very nicely. Sixty in a box. Do not recall the price.
Thanks for the tip Daisy. Appreciate it. Not sure why I did not think about it as I did notice not everyone had their e-mail listed. That's it for me tonight. Good night. May not be back til next week.
Would appreciate the 1/2 fold cards also. If you please. Thanks Frank.
Hi Daisy, I just sent you something I made in draw 6. It is my first attempt. Have you tried yours yet? It does a lot of things I've been wanting to do...Sharon**
AOL gave me an alternate number to use as the other 2 numbers are down. I've uploaded the changes to my website, including a new link to sticky-fingers in the inkjet refill section. What else, hmmm. still haven't gotten to adding the new projects. If they are larger than ~200K, I probably won't be able to put them on my site - too large to download for most people. Oh yeah, added a link to tom_boy's site. Re: Master/Slave - I just did it this weekend when I upgraded to a 6.4 gig hard drive. My hard drive cable has 2 connectors for hard drives - one the master (computer boots from this one), one slave (exists, but doesnt boot). Once I got the new one hooked up as slave, I used a program called Partition Magic to copy the data from one drive to the other. Drive Copy does the same thing, only easier user interface. Then I pulled out the old drive, inserted the new drive, attached the cable where the old drive was attached to the new drive, and booted up! G'nite all. Michael. p.s. someone tell Rex the direct shortcut for the chat line so he can give any old e-mail address he wants (http://206.40.77.126/for_cgi/chat.htm) never mind. Michael
Larry, I don't know any of this. I will save the message and get bill to operate tomorrow. Got to have some down time, g'night. Welcome to email me anytime. I will check back here to see if you are on tomorrow.
Linda, you do love the feisty side don't you? (G) You and my wife would get along VERY well
"Martians always want to play the Master part" so what's the problem? (LOL) and I believe DATA files are what Kitty was talking about or do you want to transfer the whole hard drive contents? If so I need to know the chipset on both machines (read Intel HX, VX, TX, etc) and YOU will need a program called Drive Copy (yep, another $20 bucks)….Email would work for files UNDER about 4 megs as the ISP's I know don't handle files larger than that, compressed or other wise. Now if money wasn't involved I would recommend Procom 32 or like Peter, Laplink. BUT were are trying to save some money here to purchase PrintMaster 5.0…..Kitty, I need to know if your new and old hard drives have the jumper settings on the label or the brand and model number to look up the jumper settings in order to tell you how to set one to slave. Did you say your new system has the CDROM and hd on ONE IDE cable or not? We may have to go to email here (trying to find a PM connection to prevent chat syndrome) and I will look up the data tomorrow for you...Larry
Larry, maybe it would be less typing and all for you if there is a book out there which will tell me this stuff. "Slaving for Dummies" perhaps? If there isn't there should be.
Char, I hope you saw the message from:"nameless(tom-boy@pacbell.net)"
After you choose "ready mades" select all. We were choosing too many different variables today, and should have chosen "all" and left "keyword" blank, nameless said. The most trouble, however was with "with help", I believe.
I still do not understand why we accessed NO information from the graphics disk CD 1. Have any of you people had trouble accessing graphics in PM Gold 4 from the graphics CD(THE RED ONE!!).M.L.
Iread what you just wrote, and I need a little more detail, a photo or two, something to help me identify things when I get in there and to know what to hoock up where. Pretend I'm stupid!
Kitty, Love both points about Broncos: I am a Denver fan and I live in sunny CA with OJ...... OK, did the directions to Lynn make sense to him or wish more info?....
Larry, Bill can do it if I read the directions and tell him how. he installs modems and DX chips etc.
Dear Lynn, one ink which is compatible with all printers you say? Have NEVER heard of it and I personally could not endorse it. I would also recommend that you stop copying from one hard drive to another by floppy UNLESS you are not comfortable with doing the slave/master trick with the physical drives. You only have to move one drive and if your Cdrom is slaved to your main HD you just jumper the other drive to be slave, plug in the IDE ribbon cable and power cable from the CDrom and transfer away! 'Tis an easy enough thing to do me thinks. (G) Goodness, were/are we ALL teachers?…..Larry
Daisy I have netscape and I have tried to book mark but It still deposits me at the log-on page... JOKE.........................
Q: What do the Green Bay Packers and the L. A. police
department have in common?
A: Neither one can stop a Bronco.
Q: What goes: vrmm, screech. vrmm, screech. vrmm, screech.
A: A blonde at a red flashing light.
That's not such a bad idea... internally, we use our network to get files across from all sorts of machines... there'd be very little stopping you from getting one of the free sites from Geocities, Xoom or Spree (unlimited space at the moment) and FTP'ing your files direct to there, then downloading them back to the PC... if you used Cleansweep to package them you could even move entire programs, including the appropriate links to the icons and registry... but the amount of online time to upload and download it all could be excessive...
Cheers,
Stuart
Teddybear, your posting web site www.kabalarians.com/gkh/your.htm hit the nail on the head for me…. Kitty, where were we with transferring files..ah yes, if you are comfortable with getting into both machines you can slave one hard drive to the other and transfer all your personal files with NO data lost or expense. Do you feel comfortable with the proposed "operation?"…Mayre, Frank is a great guy who keeps us both informed and laughing…I take it as a compliment!….Daisy, what hardware? (VBG) I was talking relationships…you too Donna!…Jill too? Linda, DEFINITELY YOU!(LOL)Larry
Thank you Larry and Michael I received the list. I am going to print one out because I could never remember all of those. Glenn thanks for the kudos...Sharon**
Ok Pat, would you have your better half come to the chat and verify your taking advice! (LMAO again)…Larry
Hello Maurice, and sorry to hear about the lost drive being WD. I have all but given up on them as I have replaced far to many and folks just don't/won't understand. Often I don't seem to be able to explain it to them either. All manufacturers have "lower end" drives but WD gets my vote to stay away from on the lower cost ones. 12 partitions?! WOW, you must have a great time in defragging that big guy on any given day. Understand about the sector sizes and sure glad you are up and running again friend…..Larry
s&m - Same as with slave/master - too much hardware involved. Not for me. But you never said how many sides to a recTRIangle. Sorry, Larry and Frank aren't here so you're next in line. ;o)
Logging on, yes, but when you go to submit a message put anything you want in the e-mail line if choose to not show your address. Also, for convenience, you can create a favorite/bookmark to this page and then you won't have to log on every time.
Most people just refer to me as Rex unless I am in a formal setting. I tried logging on without my e-mail address but was not allowed to do so. I didn't realize when I picked my e-mail address just how many places I would be using it. Now it's too hard to tell everyone about changing it. It's not that I want to hide what I do because I truly feel called by God to be involved in the ministry I am performing. Sometimes, though, it feels better to let people get to know me before they know what I do. This sometimes reduces the amount of negative baggage that some people attach to clergy and Christians in general. By the way, I was trying to make paragraphs as well. Oh..... Me "Verbose"........How could you! :)
Just Rex
Linda, I sent the one who left her email address a copy of some of the suggestions that were offered here and told her about AOL/s buddy list program which my daughter has and i have used sometimes. I explained what this chat is for and suggested that the Buddy list instant messaging is more fun and easier too. She answered back very civilly and I sent her some guidelines for staying safe on the internet. Sometimes kids that age will listen to another adult when they won't their own parent.
I think that is a typical Martian trait, though Larry is bound to dispute it. I agree that you don't want to rush into these things. Just had a semi-brilliant idea for transferring too large for floppy projects ... if both computers have modems and your E-mail account allows Attachments, you can always E-mail them to yourself and then download them into the new computer. Sometimes I am so clever I scare myself. Or at least it sounds good till some darn martian tells us it won't work! <g>
Thanks Rex. Very interesting info. Keep us posted. I'll have to take a look at the printer in action some day. Jill
Glad the kiddies have gone off to play in another pool tonight. I tried to send the one with an E-mail address the URL for ICQ chat but it showed the message as DELETED (as in not read) so they may have a screening program to delete mail from unknown users after all.
Larry> the problem is that Martians always want to play the Master part, LOL, and I'm too much of a Tomboy to play Slave. Kitty> my suggestion was similar to Larry's - my old computer had 2 harddrives so I copied all the stuff I wanted to take with me to one drive and then installed it in the new computer. Be forwarned that this DOESN'T work well with a lot of programs, (Mr. Gates probably saw to that) but works fine with DATA files. I like your Notepad hint for keeping track of who you want to reply to - thanks. Diane> Print Artist - though lots of people here have said good things about Print Artist, it doesn't like my computer either. Sometimes it won't show the graphics and then locks up the system as you said and it crashes. I've tried to re-install it 3 different times. Am going to try ONCE more when I am feeling more ambitious 'cause I really like some of the 'woodcuts' and also the fun things it can do with text. linda
Dear HRH do you have fast bitmap printing checked on your printer dialog box?
I think that was three questions. :)
I had been using a Panasonic KX-P1124i 24 pin dot matrix printer. Never owned a color printer. I still use the dot matrix for some of my work including when I want to print a quick draft. Why an ALPS? I was in the market for a color printer. I had talked to many who owned color printers and had sampled some at stores where printers were sold. I was reluctant to buy a printer with ink that was not water proof. (I live in the Pacific Northwest) I was able to smear the ink on most paper samples that I tested. Did not like that. I wanted something that I could print quality letters, documents, etc. along with color pictures (photos on plain paper) for children in the church without fear of having the work smudged. I also read that over the years the color ink in most other printers would eventually fade on the paper. Part of the sales pitch for the ALPS is that the color would never fade. (Time will tell on that promise). One thing I could test immediately is that I took a sheet of printed paper (black & white as well as color) straight out of the printer and I absolutely could not smear it. That was a big selling feature for me along with the photographic capabilities that I have been having fun with. The printer is capable of doing up to 1200 X 600 dpi. Of course it also has settings for 600 X 600 and 300 X 300. Hope this is helpful. I have two newsletter articles I must finish tonight and am off to several days of meetings tomorrow. I may log on later tonight but it is more likely I will be disappearing. Peace
Yeah Jill I knew when I posted that message that someone couldn't resist. Husband is wanting to know when I will stpo using HIS computer and start using my own.... My personal style is to let it set there and get used to the room. After it has a aclimatized itself to it's new environment THEN I can turn it on and start feeding it and grooming it. New things do not like to be touched til THEIR ready, and they will let you know when they are. But husband is another story, he is pushing me to do everything yesterday.
Someone mentioned a printing problem with a series of dots being generated in a project which looked like test pattern dots. I'm having a row of dots print just under the address every time I print a #10 envelope. New problem. New printer: HP722C New Operating System: Win95. These dots don't show up in Print Preview. Did whoever had the problem solve it? Does anyone have a clue about how to get rid of them? Thanks. Lynn
Dear Larry,
I seem to remember that you are our re-inking specialist. I looked at that Inky-Fingers site to which Stuart refered and they offer one ink which is compatible with all printers. Does that sound scary to you? Also, I'm also doing the copying from one hard drive to another, juggling literally hundreds of floppies, wearing a path in the carpet. Uncle Maurice sent me a program once called Splitz which divides a too big file into several smaller ones so it can be fit on floppies and moved and then rejoined into one big file. This doesn't save wear and tear on the carpet, but does allow me to save some large projects. If anybody has an abbreviation for a new paragraph, I'd like to know about it. I know I share Pastor Rex's problems of verbosity, but the teacher in me hates not being able to divide my postings into paragraphs! Sorry--a royal snit. Lynn
Hey,
New to this chat thing,so bare with me.
I was trying to do a fun photo and the darn thing won't come up on my card. The
photo will that i scaned. Then i go to add a picture select picture and nothin i must be doing somthin wrong.Anyone with an idea.
I know that in my Lexmark 7000 a new ink cartridge lasted a week I got 40 thank you's. Two full page posters for the 2-yr old granddaughter, (she likes 'em Large and BRIGHT. Frogs on one and cats on the other. I also did about 5-6 test pages to get each card lined up with the margins even. and a couple other things. I even had the print program set on ink saver HIGH. Doeas this sound excessive? Well I hope to get my ink in a couple of days, I am just trying not to print much but I did four cards today trying to line up the margins on a card for my dad. I have to get it out soon or it won't get there.

Now what do we have going here? S&M I have heard of it does anyone know what it is. Daisy?????
Daisy a rectrangle has 4 sides of course. You are suppose to pick on Larry and Frank not me.
Wait a minute. I think I missed out on a big chunk of information. Slave thing??? Husbands??? Hard drive???? I'm so confused. Could either of you please enlighten me. Maybe I need that "slave thing." Jill
Good evening Glenn. We'll just call you "Quick Draw McGraw." Yes....that's a good technique you recommend whenever the horizontal lines show up. Cheers. Jill

to remove the lines that are printing out on your project, try removing the check mark from the box that says "fast bitmap printing" in the print dialog box. this should remove the line. as for the blue coming out the wrong color. go into mspaint, make 3 shapes in the workspace. fill each with a different, preferably 1 red, 1yellow and 1 blue, since these are the primary colors used by the printer. see how the colors look. if they are not accurate, then you should do one of two things. delete and reinstall the printer, and if that doesn't work, then try updating the printer drivers. if the colors "do" match, then open a project with the color blue, click on Edit|Select All- then click on Edit|Copy- then select Edit|Paste Special. in the paste special box, select bmp(bitmap). then print out the project. this is a known problem with one other printer, the lexmark 1000 and has nothing to do with the program but it is a way around it..
Just how many sides does a rectriangle have? ((BG))
