BJ's has just gotten in Micrografx CreataCard Plus 2. I've seen it elsewhere for close to $30, but here it's just $20 plus a $5 mail-in rebate. This one does include the email greeting creator. What it does is turn your card into a slide show, with each panel of the card being shown separately. The card is self-playing and the recipient can view it immediately, unlike PM's email feature. I might consider getting it just for this feature!
I don't use the PhotoEnhancer in PM, have actually deleted it since I run Photoshop. Am curious, what buttons/features are enabled and which are disabled? At BJ's Club, I saw a product bundle called Ultimate Photo Wizard that contains PhotoEnhancer. It says it does retouching and also has special effects filters that can turn your photo into a painting, drawing, etc. Also in this bundle are a photo s#$%!book maker with lots of templates, and what appears to be the full version of NetCard, an email attachment creator (what it makes looks like a postcard). The full version of NetCard alone sells for $50, as does PhotoEnhancer. But this product is only $35 and has a $20 mail-in rebate sticker on the box. For further info, go to www.palladium.com. It certainly seems like a good deal at $15 net. I have NetCard already, as does Maurice, and I've had lots of fun with it.
Hi all, Chele here! I am new to PMP, just wondered if there is any other abstract type folks here tonight? And if anyone has a tip or two, well just give me a yell and let me know 'em.

Do you know someone who's Irish? It would be unusual if you didn't--especially on March 17, when everyone in America seems to become Irish. Anyway, how would you like to send some St. Patrick's Day greetings to that special Irish friend? Here are a few sites to look into, one of which is sure to fit your St. Pat's Day needs:

It usually happens at random. But quite often!!! I did find some scratches. Will PMW replace it or what do I need to do? Thanks for your help.
Ruth, if you find fingerprints on the disk, use a damp(not wet) soft cloth, and wipe GENTLY from the center to the edge to remove them. If you find scratches, you'll probably need a new disk. Scratches, as you may already know, to a real number on CDs. Later, Frank
Hi, Ruth. Welcome to the chat room. Just exactly when does it crash? With the same graphic everytime, or is it a random thing? If it's the same graphic everytime, it's possible that one could be corrupted. If it's a random thing, I would look for a dirty disk, (fingerprints, scratches, etc.) first. Let us know. Later, Frank
Hi! This is my first time to use this chat room, so here goes. I would like to know if anyone has had the problem with their CD #2 when selecting graphics that require it. Sometimes it will ask for the CD #2 and sometimes it just crashes on me! I have wrote tech support but haven't heard from them!!! I enjoy the program but it is really getting to be a big nuisance! Someone please help!!!
Hi Jill, this is great-grandpa Maurice at 72 years young.(ha!) Would you want to chat with me? But let's not take up all the space in this chat room. We'd better leave this bulletin board to answer technical or artistic questions. E-mail me if you like. Maurice.
Hi Ricki, I am afraid you are compparing apples to oranges. Corel is a DRAWING program, PMP is a PAGE COMPOSITION program. PMP has some drawing features, but they are limited. Corel, for example, is incapable of doing newsletters or cards, for example. They both were not intended to do what I just mentioned. For more fun photos we use Adobe Photo Shop or Photo Deluxe. The latter costs only about $50 while the former is the Cadillac at $550. Maurice.
Hi everyone,
Can someone tell me how to get your text to print gold? I wrote text in a box, and selected the color gold but when I printed it, it was way to light. Am I missing something that I should have done. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
Diana
Does anyone know if you can take any of the graphics and put a hole where the head goes and create more of the fun photos? They don't give you enough. I imported some photos into Corel and it worked. I think Corel Draw is a much more powerful program, but I would like to learn PMP also.
hi i am a 14/f chat with me
Hi Debbie, I produce five newsletters each month, some of them 12-14 pages. I e-mail them to the printer (human kind, that is) as an attachment. I leave the extension as-is, i.e. NWS. The printer downloads it, opens PMG, prints it out and reproduces it. Never had a problem. So, as you see, your recipient also has to have PMG installed on the computer. E-mail me for for more info, if you need it. Maurice.
I purchased the latest version of Printmaster MAC in January - as a gift for a friend - directly from Mindscape. I do not think it was Platinum, but they may be working on a Platinum for MAC. Call the sales line directly, rather than ordering from the website. You might check out a mail order firm at www.isn.com. I have been happy with prices & fast receipt of orders from this outfit. They have several versions of Printmaster listed for the MAC, but I would call Mindscape first & find out just what is the latest version.
It took about 30 minutes as I recall. When that kind of news gets out, download times increase because the server gets busy. Still, if it hasn't gotten past 1M in 10 minutes, I'd try it again in an hour or so. Best time, of course for that would be around 2-3AM, but guess I got lucky on Sunday. BTW I'm using a 33.6 on a 28.8 connection with ATT, you may need to adjust according to your modem, connection speed. I have had quite a bit of fun with the program already. Easiest way to use it with printmaster is by using cut/copy, paste to move the *.bmp back and forth between programs (which can both run at the same time if you like.)
Hi, I am new at this print stuff. I have a PrintMaster Platinum, and I am trying to make a newsletter. Does anyone know if it is possible to send a newsletter through email, as an attachment? If so, what do you have to save it under to do this? Thank you, I appreciate any help I can get with this and any other use of my new Printmaster. : )

Hope this helps easy the pain. Jeff
Can you tell me how long it took you to download Photo Assistant. I've been downloading for over an hour and it seems to be stuck at 1.07 MB
Renee
I forgot to say that I'm using PMP, if that makes any difference..
I bought a "value pack" of 50 cards and envelopes from Michaels. The card stock is 6 1/2" x 10". After much time and aggravation, I finally was able to make a card, but what I was wondering, is there any way better than to start with a half fold size and move the graphics around to fit? I'm probably overlooking the obvious. Thanks in advance.
jackie, i've taken the liberty of sending you all prior entries i have for the chat. i have been gone on occassion so there will be gaps. i have also added you to the list. *** If anyone wishes to be ADDED or Removed from the PrintMaster Chat Archive just send a note to jim@kjs-a.com. *** Adobe reader is needed to view the archieve. If you do not have adobe acrobat reader on your system (many software packages include it and many of the hardware vendors are including it with their computers) you can download it from http://www.adobe.com. there are download instructions as well as installation instructions and an electronic shrink wrap license. *** later.
to joann suttles: copyright is almost as good as religion and politics to discuss in an open forum where you know someone will become disagreeable with the opinion. *** the basics: if you are doing something for profit and you have copyright questions (meaning you do not know where you stand on intellectual property) CONSULT with an attorney. *** just because it says it is royalty free does not mean you can use the materials (graphics, words, etc) as you see fit (well, you might until you get caught). *** the basics part dux: contact the vendor and learn from them directly what you can and cannot do and what if any are the restrictions (BTW, get it in writing and have an attorney review, too!!) -- we purchased some graphics and learned that yes we could use them in a newsletter; however, if more than two appeared in the newsletter, then we would have to pay for each additional graphic. *** the basics part three: everything from porn to religion is getting digital signatures. sure, if you are good and you have both the time and inclination, the digital signatures can be removed in many instances. *** finally, in many instances (most in the electronic end - graphics, pictures, stuff like this) the courts have not sorted it all out as far as the internet goes and who can really use what and does it really belong to the owner. with paper (books, magazines, and these kinds of things) the rule might be stated something like this (yup, see an attorney before doing more than taking this under advi#$%!t): you can make a copy for your own personal use. ***
Best rule of thumb: ask! We have often gotten permission where others have been sent real nasty letters. It is just a courtesy! *** hope this helps ***

Hi Ed, yes, PMG is smart enough to do a call to the CD drive automatically if it needs a graphics CD. And yes, it would be the same if installed to a ZIP drive, provided the ZIP drive can hold at least 680 MB. Maurice.
Maurice, Thanks for the excellent blow-by-blow for installing the PM Program disk to hard drive. A couple of questions (to you/all): (1) When this is done, and PM needs a Graphics Disk, does it do a "call" to your CD Drive automatically, or do you have to "point" it to the CD (in the .INI or whatever)? and (2) I presume the same would work for installing to a ZIP drive instead of your harddrive? Thanks!
Hi, Robert. We're not Tech Support here, just a group of users(PMG that is) like yourself, that try to solve whatever we can for others, and share tips and shortcuts we have discovered on our own. Occasionally we get a little far afield, but most of it pertains to PMG and computing in general. Our experience spans newbies to experts. Once in a while one of the techs from Mindscape will chime in. From what I've seen here, and in my humble experience with the "Patch" you really don't know if it's doing anything or not, if like myself you d/led it just because it was there. I believe if you click on "Help, About" in PMG you'll see version 4.01.33, or is it .03? If you do, the d/l of the patch was successful. Some things it corrects that you are not even aware of. As to the other link, well..................... Hope this helps, later, Frank
Hi Susie, I have a Mac too, and have been told at the catalog sales I normally do business with that PM Platinum is not available for the Mac. If you discover that this is not true let me know, Please! Jackie
I have been looking everywhere for this program..I have gold..but would really like to have the platinum program...
Mac products are not easy to come by where I live....and most of the mags I get do not carry platinum....
Any suggestions where I can find this???
well, Hello Larry looks like we are in the same boat.Mailed mine in November. I inquired about it and was answered promptly. Now I am told THE CHECK IS IN THE MAIL.Ha.Mailed one in to Broderbund less than a month ago and got it last friday.
I'm a photographer and use these products. My color lab uses Suregaurd McDonald's Pro-Tecta-Cote which comes in a black 19.7 oz. aerosol can. There is another formula in Suregaurd white cans. It comes in several finishes: Glossy, Lustre, Matte, etc. I use glossy and lustre. Keep in mind this smells like spray paint/nail polish and is highly flammable! I know a photographer whose studio burned down when a spark ignited the fumes. Do not use indoors; instead, spray outdoors when the humidity is low. I put my photos in a cardboard box, spray, then shut the box so they will dry without dust & bugs getting trapped in the lacquer. You can purchase this from Albums Inc, 1-800-662-1000, www.AlbumsInc.com. Cost is about $10-11 per can.
Hello Terri….The particular subject of pricing, rears its ugly head on these posting again and again and is one of my pet peeves so let me share what I paid for mine. At a store called CompUSA here in California the Printmaster Platinum sold around December for $54.99 with a $25.00 rebate (which I am still waiting for). Not knowing what $70.00 Canadian is, I will let you do the conversion and tell me if it is a good deal or not. I have found that shopping RETAIL beats “loyal upgrade pricing” 10 out of 10 times. Good Luck and thanks for sharing about PM and your children. Larry
Is anyone else waiting patiently for their rebate? Mine was sent in on 12-11-97 and as yet failed to receive check, notice, nada. I sent a notice to customer support and am still waiting for a reply. Larry
How come your customer support link and print master patch link never work? My problem is that whenever I aquire an image and then try to use your photo enhancer the program shuts down.
Thank for the suggestions. Wife is going to Michaels tomorrow to get some Craftguard. BTW there is a spray for photographs or paper that makes them really water resistant and has UV protection if you are putting pictures or signs where the sun hits them. The product is SUREGUARD Professional photo lacquer. MARSHALL photo color products also has it. For photos or graphics that are going to be handled I know of no better protection. They can even be wiped with a damp cloth
Maurice- Thanks for the info on how to copy the program to the HD. I'll try it. I hate to keep swapping program & graphics disks. I knew I would have to make a change somewhere to tell it where to look (like in the ini file)- I used to be able to do that on Apple IIs to install programs to HDs, by editing the sector on the disk.
Judy
Hi, Brandy. I have the Totem disk 1 -18. Came as an add-on when I bought PMG3.0 Totem 1 has most of the Christmas pics. Totem 5 has just a "Holly Border". E-mail me, and I'll send you a list of what's on disk 1, and a couple of examples. Can do that now that I have Netscape 4.04! Later, Frank
If you're a full-time college student, you may be able to buy software at greatly reduced prices. These are called "educational versions." I find them sold at local computer shows, and they don't even ask for a college ID. Just for an example, Photoshop 4 is around $550 street price, but at the show it was just $250. Some computer magazines list vendors that sell these educational versions also. The show that comes to my area (NJ) has a website at www.platinumshow.com. See if they'll be near you anytime soon.
has anyone bought the $5.00 totem holidays disk?
I still need better SANTA CLAUSE AND ELF GRAPHICS for my Christmas business.
I still need to check out artoday, BUT I WAS WONDERING.
Glenn & Sandy,
There is a product called Craftguard available that protects fabric, it also seems to stop bleeding with water soluble inks. Its available at Michaels and Wal-Mart in our area. Thought it might be worth a try expecially with an heirloom that Glenn's wife is making. Debb
Hi Terri, I don't know if you are aware of the fact that Corel is produced in Canada. Please point your web browser at http://www.corel.com and find 800 store numbers and addresses, plus prices of all their products. Good luck, Maurice.
Hi Bill, please read my posting to Judy Estep and multiply the number of CDs by 680 MB to figure out how much disk space you will need. If you have that much available, e-mail me for the modified instructions on the graphics CDs. Maurice.
Hi Judy, somehow a small gremlin crept into my posting. In the middle of it I said " then install from C:\PMWCD..." Of course, that should be "C:\PMGCD..." Duh! Maurice.
Hi Judy, my former posting alluded to by Larry was a bit too cryptic, I find. Not enough detailed info. So here goes the entire story. I will assume that the program is presently not installed. If it is, UNINSTALL it. To copy the entire PROGRAM CD to the hard disk you will need about 680 MB of free space. To copy all the files on the CD to the hard drive, the easiest way is to use the XCOPY command in DOS. Suppose your CD drive is drive D: and your hard disk is drive C: Moreover, I suppose you selected the download directory on drive C: to be C:\PMGCD. (make the necessary substitutions if you prefer.) Put the PROGRAM CD in the drive and put your computer in DOS mode. Then type: XCOPY D:\*.* /s/e C:\PMGCD and press the ENTER key. (The two switches "/s/e" stand for "copy all subdirectory files and include all subdirectories, even if they are empty." ) You will now see a list of files being copied from D: to C: It will take about one half hour to copy all flies, and it will depend somewhat on the speed of your computer. When finished type the word EXIT and press the ENTER key. Then install the program from the C:\PMWCD directory, not from the CD as usual. When finished, and if you try to run it without the CD in the drive, in all probability, it will still ask you to put the CD in the drive. This is because the path in the PMW.INI is still pointing at the CD drive. Put your computer in DOS mode and type EDIT C:\PMW\PMW.INI and press the ENTER key. The content of that INI file should be on the screen. Look for the heading [Configuration]. If you don't have one, type one in on a separate line. Then underneath it type: CDPath=C:\PMGCD. Then click on SAVE or hold down the ALT key while hitting the S key. Next click on EXIT or hold down the ALT key while hitting the X key. Then type the word EXIT and press the ENTER key. You are now back in Windows and everything should work like a charm, if you followed these proven instructions and if you made sure to use upper- and lowercase characters as indicated. If you want to copy any other graphics CD to the hard disk, that can be done also, at a penalty of 680 MB of disk space. But you will need slightly different instructions. Good luck, Maurice.
I got that offer from HP too. It IS the full version as my friend bought the same about a year before. The 2.0 version is the new and improved program just out recently.
Hello Maurice...Thanks for the info about the platinum package. If this package has more graphics, and more extensive, it will be worth looking into. Are you familiar with the Corel Ventura Desktop Publishing program? That program is the one I use at College for the layout, etc. If you are, do you know of an approxiamate price for it. My Prof at school is reluctant to tell me how much the college pays for the program. (I am assuming that with the cost of my tuition for a year, Corel should be somewhere at the top of the line). I have noticed quite an improvement with my son, and we have implemented some of the graphic charts from the PM into his routine at school. I think the best thing I find about the PM, is that it is so easy to use, my kids, (Our youngest son is seven), are creating their own projects for their friends at school. Anyway, sorry about the thesis, I am looking forward to exchanging more tips, info and whatever with club members. I'm glad to be aboard! Terri Fowler
Maurice & Frank, Thanks to you both for the help with the banner. I needed to use some info from both of you. First of all, Frank you were right, I was using tractor feed banner paper and obviously it doesn't work because when I ripped it apart and put the pages singularly it worked. Maurice, I also did the click on squares button when I did a banner of my own and it worked. Thanks again to both of you - my house is now going to be covered with Happy 50th Birthday Don banners. Poor him!!!!
I would like to put the complete Printmaster Gold and Platinum programs, art and photos on my hard disk. How??
Hi Jill...Thanks for the quick response. Ryan has really improved with his expectations since I use the graphics with him. I was out today and I found the PM Platinum edition for about $70.00. I live in Northern Ontario, Canada, and we don't have a whole lot of opportunities for comparative shopping, do you know if $70 Canadian is a reasonable price?
OK YOU WEB GURU'S..I tried to downlaod the wedding software LISA told us about and this is the error message I got.
FAILED TO PARSE HTTP
Your request does not appear to be properly formed
what does this mean? I want to try that soft ware. Now what do I do?
Judy Estep, scroll down thru the chat room to Maurice's post to Adele of 3/8 6:48 AM PDT. Later, Frank
Hi Chocolate Lady, when you click on PRINT, the next menu should have a radio button that says WHICH TILES? Click on that one. Now click on either TURN ALL ON, or click on individual pages if you prefer not to print all, but just specific ones. Maurice.
Bev, Hi it could be the full version I had a sample version with my Epson printer. When you first bring it up it should say 1.0 for the sample or 2.0 for the newer. You can do alot of the same things on both, the 2.0 having more. You can also do the cut outs on either. The only complaint that I had with the 1.0 was that I had quite a few illegal operation shut downs. So be sure and put what ever you are working on in the hold. Renee
WHATZ THAT? I called Austin Texas and there is no listing.
Any one into acid free archiving?
I found a great web site...let me know by e-mail if you want the web address!
Seems like to me with all the graphics avail. for SPECIAL SHEETS and layouts..just gotta figure out LIMITS on ink and paper.
I don't want to tie uo this board discussing anoither art form (even it does pertain to PMP)...SO If anyone is interested EMAIL me and let's compare notes and ideas!!!

Lisa!!! thanks for the PooP on the wedding invitation software D/L SITE!!!
U R a doll!!!
I just purchased Printmaster Platinum and would like to install the program completely on the hard drive so I don't have to keep putting the program disk in when I want to run it. Does anyone know how?
Thanks
Help!!! I've just tried for the hundredth time to make a banner, and as usual, no luck. Usually I try to make my own banner and it has never, never worked. So, today I thought I'd try the ready-made type just to see if it would work. The same thing happened. When I press print, only the first page of the banner is printed and all the other pages are just fed through the printer with nothing on them. Anyone have any idea what's the matter?
Someone asked about making wedding invitations and I posted a message about a program, but didn't have detailed instructions . Yesterday, in the Atlanta Journal's Personal Technology section was an article on this. It's called The Wedding Invitations Kit, by American Pad and Paper Co. of Dallas and is marketed under the Ampadand Creative Card brand name. You're directed through less than a dozen questions about the wedding, then the program writes the invitation, allowing you to select options from a menu. There are 5 font selections. It comes with heavyweight embossed paper to get you started (you can order more). It's estimated price is $24.95 and can be ordered by calling 800-258-4086. At another website, you can download and try a program for 10 days before you buy, and then it's only $14.95. That one is at http://www.ed-it.com/p_tcwe.htm
Glenn, try ironing the fabric to freezer paper, it's cheaper than the Avery Label 5455 that you used. If the quilt is to be washed in the future I would suggest testing the printout first before using it in the quilt. Some inks are water soluble and the ink will run and/or fade when washed. Sandi
Hi,
I'm new to the computer and PM but I love working with grsphics on the computer. I have created several posters and my bus. card and would like to show them to my family via email. We are all aol is there a way to send your work through email?? I have a Compaq Presario windows95 and I'm working in the PMG Classic program. Can anyone help me ?? Also I dont want to do this if it is illegal. Thanks, Michele
I just read your message about the Adobe Photo Deluxe and I am curious. I got a comp pkg. from HP with two CD's, one is a mixture of Printmaster Gold 4.0, T-Shirt Transfers, etc. The other is Adobe Photo Deluxe. I haven't time right now to install. Do you think this is the full version? I shopped at my favorite Office Depot and picked up The Learning Co. Calendar Creator and was amused to read that they are absorbing Mindscape and the chat room was going bonkers figuring out the ramifications of same. Again, I haven't the time right now to install.
If you want a smile and/or giggle to start your week, look at page two and three of The New Yorker this week. What imaginative creatures we are!!! 8-)

To get AOL and Printmaster to work correctly together try the following.
Firstly, AOL must be AOL version 3.0 for Windows 95. If you are using Windows 3.1, AOL must be version 3.0 for Windows. The TCP/IP stack must be the same as your current installation of Printmaster. AOL version 3.0 for Windows 95 has a 32 bit stack, and AOL 3.0 for Windows (3.1) has a 16 bit stack. Printmaster automatically installs the proper 16 or 32 bit version of itself, depending on your Windows version. Next step is to sign on to AOL first, then launch Printmaster. You should then be able to send online greetings and launch the internet from within Printmaster. Remember that online greetings are limited to cards only, and must have a valid sender and receiver's email address. Hope this helps, Craig
Ladies you may be interested in this I have taken up quilting. Not really however my wife does a lot. She recently became interested in ironons but was having a lot of trouble with them. So she purchased some sheets of white muslin with a paper pack for inkjet printing. Work really good but at a cost of $1.35 a sheet and the material wasn't all that great. So I took an Avery Label 5455 (full sheet) and some good white muslin material, pasted the muslin on it,cut to size, and printed 10 pictures using the same label. You would be amazed at how good they look. The pictures are of our sons wedding and she plans to make them into a wallhanging.
Terri....good job with your graphics strategy related to your son. You probably know about the latest research that shows learners are going to remember more of the page when using graphics. For people out there who are new to this technique just take a photo or any other clipart and build the learning pieces to remember right into the picture. You could even be creative by scanning a family photo and typing in the facts to be memorized. The learner is more likely to recall the object in the picture, including the written statement.
Elsie, doesn't look to me like there is any way to resize the business cards. I don't have Platinum, just 4.0 Deluxe. They're basically the same program, more graphics in Plat. It would be possible to create your own tho, using the "Poster" workspace. 'Twould be a little more work, could probably get four to a page. Later, Frank
Sometimes when I print a whole page of text, blocks of it get left off while printing. If I reprint the same page, a different block may get left off. I've been using different versions of PM for about 2 years.
Hi Terri, PM Platinum is identical to PM Graphics, except Platinum has many more graphics.(5 CDs) More CDs, of course, is sometimes annoying to people if they have to constantly shuffle them to obtain the right graphic. But that is the price one pays for a superior program. I am sure your son will definitely benefit from the marvelous graphics and photos in this superb program. Maurice.
Hello,
I am a new member. We just bought a new computer last week and as soon as I saw the Printmaster Program, I had to have it! It's great! I've done some amazing things with it already. There is one thing I would like to ask of anyone who knows, I have the Printmaster Gold publishing suite, but when I was out shopping today, I saw a Printmaster Platinum. Are the two programs similiar? Which is the more upgraded one, and any information you could provide for me about the Platinum would be appreciated.
I would also like to share an interesting experience. I have a son who is 9 years old. Ryan has Attention Deficeit Hyperactivity Disorder. Because of this, Ryan learns differently than some kids. My Doctor told me that a child like Ryan learns visually. As you can imagine, with the fantastic graphics and opportunities in the Printmaster publishing suite, Ryan now has very graphic routine and 'remember' charts. Ryan can also create them himself! This program has not only been good for me, (I am a first year Print Journalism student in College), and my husband is a Social Worker with the Children's Aid Society. He has been able to come up with some great new ways of combing visual therapy with some plain old fun for the kids he works with. This program has been great for my whole family. I look forward to sharing and receiving tips and ideas from other members of the club
Thanks,
Terri Fowler
Is it possible in this program -Printmaster Platinum- to create your own dimensions? For example, if you wanted to create a business card 3 inches by 3 3/4 inches instead of the standard size given in the program. Can you resize any of the examples in the program?
Thanks for any help,
Elsie
Gretchen, you mean to tell me that silence is not golden. Did you download the new drivers into a file? If so go to control panel under add new hardware and try to reinstall your sound. When it ask for drivers give the file location.
Please computer wizes come to my rescue!!! I tried downloading and replacing the most recent driver for my ensoniq sound card on the net today. It successfully removed my old version, then froze the entire system up after installing about 26% of the new driver. I am still mostly a newbie with sort of stuff, and would really appreciate some sage advice as I have no sound at all now. Thank you in advance, Gretchen
Glenn,
Thanks for the suggestion. I exited all programs, and restarted computer and PMPlatinum.... looks like I've got the white text back now...
Bruce, there is a gif antimatter at http://www.ulead.com/ it's free (I think) Maybe you can roll your own wheels.
Not to step on any toes, I have Adobe Photo Deluxe 2.0 paid $50.00 at Electronic Boutique. I can cut out faces put in new ones and then send them to PMP. I finish them there because they have the nicest graphics I've found. And It is much easier to work with. Renee
P. S. Jd, this will will work for you too. Now if I can get it to work in NS Commuicator...............Later, Frank
Hi Robert, if you give us some detailed account of how you tried to accomplish this, we will be able to see where you might have gone wrong. Agreed? Maurice.
Garry. You can't. Open your 'net connection first, then PMG. Copy and paste your project to AOL, and send. Later, Frank
Why can't I " Copy " an image ( such as a pre-drawn Word-Art ) an "Paste" in a Print Master application?
How do i get my printmaster gold 4.0 to work with aol .I am unable to get it to send pictures or anything to anybody on aol.
How can I set Print Master internet connection to go to my aol connection.
Thanks Glenn for your help.
Mahalo Darah… There are usually two generic causes for slowdown: either something has changed gradually over time to cause the slowdown, or there has been an abrupt hardware or software change that is responsible for it. Have you checked for viruses lately? Check the processor to make sure it is not overheating, and make sure the CPU fan is still running. Some CPUs, especially OverDrive processors, will intentionally slow the CPU down if they detect a failed fan, in order to prevent heat buildup. Double-check all BIOS options to make sure nothing has been changed from what it should be. Look at cache and memory timings, and hard disk modes. Verify against your last BIOS settings backup. Sometimes people accidentally change a parameter when they are trying to modify something else in the BIOS. Viruses can also change BIOS settings, (but rarely). Try defragmenting the hard disk. If you have not run defrag in a while, file fragmentation can lead to slowdown. You might also look in the C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder and see how many other programs are starting up automatically when you boot up your machine. (Your system resources might be to low and is not related to physical RAM.) Check the free space on your “C” hard drive. In particular, if you have set Win 95 to dynamically resize the swap file, and you let C drive get too full, Win 95 will shrink the size of the swap file and this can cause slowdown problems. Keep us posted as to what you are trying and how you are coming along. Mahalo … Larry
Hi Maurice,
Thanks for the quick response to my calender problem and exporting. I'm going to try it now. Talk to you later.
Ricki
After looking at the Photo Assistant for a bit, it looks pretty good for free but only manipulates .bmp graphics. (Not a big problem) There are some pretty good masking options that I can already see I could never have lived without before. Neat, and still free, to the next 68,000 downloaders
There's a new product out by XaosTools ("chaos tools") called FlashBox, that sells for $45. It allows you to do basic retouching, such as removing wrinkles, etc. And special effects, like removing/adding individuals, changing backgrounds, and such. It also comes with FlashXubes ("flash cubes") in various themes, that have cut outs where you can insert your own photos. New FlashXube designs will be available for download from their site (www.xaostools.com) each month. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? A Xaos rep called me and was very excited about this title, saying that it might even appeal to professional photographers who want to experiment with digital imaging, but who don't want to invest the time and money into learning Photoshop.
Aloha Everybody!
I'm getting the hang of the Platinum version, but the speed at which the program moves is getting on my last nerve! Could it be because I have a CD rom drive that is only a 6X? I have 48MGs of RAM on a Pentium 166. Will the patch fix this speed problem? Whenever I move from the new project window and select the type of project I want to crate, it takes so long for the next step to load. Did I explain this problem well enough for somebody to understand me? Please Help!

Rick.. You also might want to check with your local PC User’s Group, for folks who use PrintMaster. A lot of groups have SIG’s (Special Interest Groups) that just deal with a specific topic/program and take turns meeting at each other’s homes for the purpose of learning/sharing of ideas and information. The exchange is phenomenal and the camaraderie is exceptional. You might check your local paper/phone book, for places, times, dates of meetings and folks to contact. As a former president and current member of a local User’s Group, I can emphatically endorse them as a great resource for information and help… Larry
Hey all, Just found that Ulead Photo Assistant is a free registered copy for the first 70,000 who download it at the page below. Haven't tried it yet, but might be worth the disk space to check it out................ http://www6.zdnet.com/cgi-bin/texis/swlib/hotfiles/info.html?fcode=000P0D
Thanks Daisy, it works! And it saves me about $500. As you say, it is a bit more involved, as you have to do all the work in Photo Deluxe and then import it into PMG as JPG, GIF, or any of the other bitmap formats available for exporting. Thanks again. Maurice.
By PSD in my message I am referring to the program, Adobe Photo Deluxe and not the file format of PSD. I always erroneously refer to Adobe Photo Deluxe as Photo Shop Deluxe. Sorry to confuse everybody.
I just create and save the cut-outs in PSD and work with them there. After adjusting a photo behind one I use the export feature to export the entire image as a JPEG (other file formats available to choose from) and open that file in a PrintMaster project. Sure, it takes a little more file manipulation, but I am not into professional photo enhancement so it doesn't make sense for me to purchase a $500 program.
Hi everybody, I was wondering if anybody here is from the Twin Cties area of Minnesota, and would like to get together sometime to mess around with PM, I could always learn more and maybe pickup new ideas..Let em know, thanks........Rick......
Hi Adele, I have copied the program CD to the hard disk on several computers. But it requires about 670 MB of free hard disk space. But that will still require you to shuffle graphics disk, of course, in PMP. ---- To make an outline box on a card, just click on the rectangular shape tool and drag out out to where you think it looks good. It will be completely black. But, with the handles (black dots) still around the rectangle, click on the paint icon and click on NONE. The rectangle will become transparent. (you can give it any color, though) Now you may successively click on the icons below the paint can to adjust the line width, line color, shadow, and so on. Now drag a text frame inside the rectangle and enter your text. Maurice.
Hi Daisy, you say that Photo Deluxe is about 1/10th of the price of Photoshop. True. But when you save a file in Photo Deluxe, the extension is PDD as opposed to Photoshop where it is PSD. Could you please tell us how you convinced PMG to import a PDD file when my version accepts only a PSD file? If you go the COPY (or CUT) & PASTE route, the cut-out is WHITE, not TRANSPARENT, as it should be to make it a fun photo. Maurice.
You'll find that this will happen in any program. If you want to add something to a file, you need to open the file first, add whatever you want, then save it.
Hello Ed, now that is amazing that you have the slider I just increased my font size to the max and don't get a slider. Have you tried just shutting down and restarting to cure the problem with the white on dark fonts? Loaded any software today? Tried turning all other programs off to check for conflict?
Hello Jackie, Jim said to E-Mail him at jim@kjs-a.com and he would add you to his Email list.
