Or sometimes I use a light weight paper (20#) for the outside and then use a colored heavier card stock for the inside. If you pick a color for the inside, match it to something in the picture on outside, then just cut away that white border on first page. I've also glued paper lace around front (after cutting away the white border) then the color from inside page shows through the lace. Glue close to the fold of back page only of the card. Hope this makes sense, I'm not very good at explaining things. Maurice (m@azstarnet.net) Subject: Address labels & Cards > Sundae User's IP Address: 169.197.40.147 April 25, 1998 (9:18 AM PDT) Hi Sundae, I found this in my archives and I think it applies to your case: It is possible to print multiple labels at one time, each one with different information by using the Address book feature. First you will need to put all of your information into the Address book. Then what you will do is create a "dummy" label using only fill in fields. To do this, start as you would normally to create a new label. Choose the label type and add the designs you wish. When you are ready to add the text, choose "add a text box," and then "type and edit text." Now choose "add fill in fields." Select the fill in fields you wish to use, for example "First Name" "Last Name," "Number" etc. Eventually your text box will look something like this: "First Name?" "Last Name?" "Address 1 ?" "City ?" "State ?" "Zip ?" "Number" with each fill in field in the proper position on your label. When you have arranged your text box as you wish it to look when it prints, choose the "fill in fields" button. This will allow you to choose "receiver group" under "Address." You will now see your address book. Select the entries you wish to print, then click "close" and "okay." you will now see the information from the first entry on your label. When you choose "print label," you will now be able to print one label per address book entry you have chosen. I used a wide half fold card. On the outside I put 2 gold Wedding Bells on the upper right corner and on the lower feft corner I scanned an original Wedding portrait they had and put it there. In between the two graphics I typed in-Your're Invited to A - on one line and below that I typed in - Celebration. This was done in a Downward shape rotated to fit in between the graphics. I used a decorative font and made it gold color and stretched it out to fill the area. On the inside on the top half I scanned in their original Wedding Invitation and reception invitation. I angled the two together to give it a better look. Then on the bottom half I entered in the invitation information. I used Elegance font for this in Black. On the top half I typed "50 years ago" and on top of the bottom half I typed" now." This was a very plain card but it did look impressive. I hope this might give you some ideas for your Project By the way I used Avery 51/2 inch by 81/2 inch Ink Jet Greeting cards # 8316, 25 cards and envelopes to a box. I think it costs about $16.00. Here goes: Recently, a group of computer scientists (all male Martians) announced that computers should also be referred to as being female. Their reasons for drawing this conclusion is as follows: 1. No one but the Creator understands their internal logic. 2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else. 3. The message "Bad command or file name" is as informative as, "If you don't know why I'm mad at you, then I'm certainly not going to tell you." 4. Even your smallest mistakes are stored in long time memory for later retrieval. 5. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it. --------------------------------------- HOWEVER, another group of computer scientists (all female Venusians) think that computers should be referred to as if they were male. Their reasons follow: 1. They have a lot of data, but are still clueless. 2. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem. 3. As soon as you commit to one you realize that, if you had waited a little longer, you could have obtained a better model. 4. In order to get their attention, you have to turn them on. 5. Big power surges knock them out for the rest of the night. Maurice. Make sure to "flip" the image ("mirror "image if desired); it has to stay in the upper, right....4)"Inside left" of card goes into lower left quadrant....5)"Inside right" of card goes into lower right quadrant....6) Print the page....7) Turn page around ( right to left or left to right) so that the blank side faces you. Turn paper upside down and print the second side.....Quick check: The "front" of the second card is printed behind the "inside left" of first card. Cut the sheet of paper in half at the 5-1/2" mark....Landscape(wide):.... 1) Choose "poster-wide" as your project type....2) "Front" of card goes into upper, left quadrant. Make sure to "flip" your image ("mirror" image if desired), but it has to stay in the upper, left .... 3) "Back" of card goes into lower, left quadrant. ....4)"Inside top" of card goes into upper right quadrant....5)"Inside right" of card goes into lower right quadrant....6) Print the page....7) Turn page around ( right to left or left to right) so that the blank side faces you. Turn paper upside down and print the second side.....Quick check: The "front" of the second card is printed behind the "inside top" of first card.. Cut the sheet of paper in half at the 5-1/2" mark.... After the first side is printed, I usually write in the different parts of the card on the sheet of paper as a map, and then erase after the second side is printed .....Printing the second side can be a bit tricky at first. Stuart Elflett (stuarte@fan.net.au) Subject: RE:> Paul -> More Circles User's IP Address: 203.20.92.2 April 28, 1998 (12:59 AM PDT) I don't know which version of PM you have, or which clip-art, but a quick search for OUTLINE CIRCLE found me the perfect piece of clipart - it's the third on display, and it has a square border with a transparent circle in the middle - just lay that over your image, recolour and resize and you're in business... there's a nice star there in the same format, too... Regards, Stuart Ken (kennkath@worldnet.att.net) Subject: Blend box > Tim R User's IP Address: 12.67.0.234 April 28, 1998 (10:19 AM PDT) Tim, the fading box you're talking about is found in the ad picture area. After you click it, type "blend" in the keyword area and then click find now. Select the blend you want (l-r,t-b,v). once it's added, right click the box and click attributes and color. then create the color you're happiest with. Sorry can't help with the other problem. Michael (http://members.xoom.com/mbgoldberg) Subject: Don - Fonts User's IP Address: 152.171.188.45 April 28, 1998 (9:37 PM PDT) Don, the PrintMaster fonts are located in a directory on your CD call Fonts. To make them available to all your other programs, I believe you have to install them on your computer. (PrintMaster knows where they are, but no other programs do.) To do this, go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Fonts. In the file menu, select install new fonts. It will prompt you for the location. Select the fonts directory from your PrintMaster CD. Install the ones you want, or all of them. Hope this helps. Michael I briefly saw a Post about splashing and how much fun they were have using it, guess I'm noisy but is that something to so with PMP?Can't remember was it Glenn or Stuart or someone one else? Please email if you prefer. I had told Paul about the CIRCLE OUTLINE and had found a whole heap of other outline's in the clipart, and I'd been wasting time after hours at work playing with placing SPLASH OUTLINE over the top of a nice gradient blend, then turning the outline white so it just left the shape I wanted... it works very, very well... will get round to emailing a page of similar effects to Michael sometime for inclusion on his page... Regards, Stuart Daisy (*) Subject: Ink Smearing HP Printers User's IP Address: 153.36.8.169 April 29, 1998 (10:42 PM PDT) Direct from HP support site. Be sure you clean the area where the print cartridges 'rest'as well. HP DeskJet 720, 800, 1000, and 1100 Series Printers - Black Ink Is Smearing or Streaking -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ISSUE: Print, particularly black, is smeared as if something had brushed against the wet ink and smeared it across the page. Usually one or both of the print cartridges have been used extensively. SOLUTION: Follow the steps below to clean any ink or debris from around the print cartridge nozzle plate. 1. Turn the printer on and open the top cover. The print cartridge cradle will move to the center of the printer. 2. Remove both print cartridges from the printer. 3. Inspect the bottom of each print cartridge for ink or debris buildup. If there is a noticeable buildup, clear it away from around the nozzle plate of each print cartridge with a moistened foam rubber swab. Do not wipe across or toward the nozzle plate. (The black cartridge's nozzle plate is a narrow copper-colored or bronze-colored area on the bottom of the cartridge that is about 1/8 inch wide by 1/2 inch high. The color cartridge's nozzle plate is a square silver-colored or gold-colored area on the bottom of the cartridge that is about 3/8 inch square.) NOTE: Use a clean foam rubber swab to clean each print cartridge. These swabs are available at electronic supply stores. As an alternative, a clean, lint-free cloth may be used. Distilled water is recommended. Tap water might contain contaminates that could react with the ink. NOTE: If the print cartridge cradle moves back to the right side of the printer while the cartridges are being cleaned, close the top cover and open it again to bring the cradle back to the middle. 4. Reinstall the print cartridges into the printer and close the top cover. 5. Print a self-test page to ensure that the print smearing has been eliminated. 6. If the print quality has not improved, there is still debris present on the print cartridges and the cleaning procedure should be repeated. If the second cleaning fails to improve the print quality, try another set of print cartridges. If multiple cartridges have been tried, contact the HP Customer Support Center listed in the printer's User's Guide. CAUSE: The ink smearing is caused by a buildup of debris on the print cartridges. The ink attracts debris around the cartridge nozzles. This debris may consist of dust or hair. It may also consist of paper, carpet, or clothing fibers. The fibers drag through the wet black ink producing lines across the paper when printing. The fibers generally do not affect the colored ink because it dries more quickly than the black ink. I 'upgraded' to V.4 as I have V. 3 and I 've read many of you extolling your praises of 4. Now, I'm confused unless the only difference between Gold 4 and Plat 4 is additional stuff - graphics and such. You'd think Mindscape would have explained this in their docs, but NO! So, I turn to you users to explain some operational and other info, so I don't have to endure the catacombs of 'Tech Support' whose 'Auto' line doesn't acknowledge Platinum just V.4. First, my V.3's manual is an inch thick and full of info and, I think, thumbnails of all the graphics. The manual I got is much thinner and has only one page of thumbnails of each division of graphics. Now, I know I didn't buy Corel Draw Suite 9 or whatever it's up to, but I paid no more for V.3 than I did for 4, so I expected a manual similiar. Maybe the problem is I bought direct, but I'd seen no cautions to that effect. The manual I got with Plat. is titled PM Gold BTW. More confusion. And there is no mention of using 4 as an upgrade to 3 or any other previous version, so I don't know how to keep already created projects. I've seen mention of this topic here, but didn't know I would run into this. so didn't print the response. Last, is there a way to construct these messages ' off line' and copy or otherwise import them in? Thanks, J Michael thank younfor responding I faxed minescape a copy of what was going on and they called me back yesterday afternoon said it was most likely a printer setting went in and changed to lightest setting and the gray is gone I'm using an EPSON Stylus COLOR 600, since I'm new to computers I seem to have a million questions . Thought you might want to put this in your memory bank in case anyone else has a problem. Again thank you for your time I'm sure I will chat with the friendly people at printmaster again. Regards, Stuart Helen (burkettb@pacbell.net) Subject: postcards >Lisa, Stuart, Michael User's IP Address: 206.170.122.39 April 29, 1998 (12:02 AM PDT) Hi there, I made some postcards using the "quarter the poster" method, and later thought the quarter-fold card would have done just as well. Guess it would have. I saved my templates, though. Lisa, I did make backs for my cards. Make another template and vertically halve each quarter. That makes room for the message and an address. Since I was making mine for my 4 yr old granddaughter, I drew horizontal lines for the address and placed a square at the top right for the stamp.Use copy and paste for speed. Use print preview to check placement of the lines.Print one side, turn your paper as your printer requires and print the other side. Print out a sample on plain paper before using your good card stock. The ones I made were very successful with the recipient and her parents, since I sent stamps. I just used the coloring book feature for the "front", so she could color the cards. We received one the other day, so they were ok with the postal service, too. Credit goes to Lynn, also. She gave me the poster idea to start with. Whew, I got wordy and chatty. Nite, all. Helen Lynn Campbell Behnke (Alambil@aol.com) Subject: postcards User's IP Address: 152.163.204.140 April 29, 1998 (9:04 AM PDT) Lisa, As a refinement to the postcard advice you've already received, I use rectangles the same size as the margins instead of lines as demarcations so the postcards are each centered equally in their little quadrant. (You'll need two vertical and two horizontal rectangles so that when you cut them apart their inside margins will be the same as their outside margins.) If I want a two-sided postcard, I do it in newsletter so the pages stay together. Also if you do a copy/paste from one page to another in a newsletter, or make a second page and tell it you want a copy of the first page, the registration is very faithful--in other words the front and back will match nicely. Once again, if any TLC staff are lurking, I suggest that PM 5 have a postcard template and drop the notecard. Who can't figure out how to leave the inside blank on a greeting card?
