Subject: Truth REPUBLIC OF TEXAS Looks like the election got settled just in time to avoid a major action by the citizens of Texas. This is what was in the works... Declaration of Election Settlement OK, Folks. Texas has given the people in Florida plenty of time to get this election finished. Now Texas has decided that we need to take matters into our own hands: Here is our solution: #1: Al Gore becomes President of the United States (all 49 states). #2: George W. Bush becomes the President of the Republic of Texas. So how will Texas survive as a Republic? NASA is located in Houston, Texas, so we will control the space industry. We currently refine over 75% of the gasoline used in the United States and we can pump all the oil that the Republic of Texas will need for the next 800 years. Yankee states? Sorry about that...does the phrase "Freezing in the Dark" mean anything to you? Of course since Mr.Gore claims we have global warming, you might not need the oil anyway? Natural Gas? - again, we have more than we will ever need. Too bad about those northern states. Maybe Al Gore will figure a way to keep Tipper and the rest of you warm.... Computer Industry? We lead the world in producing computer chips, and communications too. The two largest computer manufacturers in the World are located here...Compaq in Houston and Dell in Austin, not to mention Texas Instruments, EDS, Raytheon, National Semiconductor, Motorola, Intel, AMD, Atmel, Applied Materials, Ball Semiconductor, Dallas Semiconductor, Delphi, Nortel, Alcatel, etc, etc. The list goes on and on. Defense Industry? We have over 55% of it right here. The term "Don't mess with Texas," will take on a whole new meaning, in case of a foreign invasion. We have the Texas National Guard and the Texas Air National Guard. We don't need a standing army since everybody down here has at least six rifles and a pile of ammo, so we can raise an army in 24 hours if we need it. Besides, any Texas Ranger can handle most situations without help. Health Centers? - We have the nation's largest research centers. For Cancer research, the best burn centers and the top trauma units in the world, as well as one of the largest medical centers in the world. Education? We have enough colleges to keep us going: University of Texas, Texas A&M, Rice University, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, Southern Methodist, Texas Tech, Texas Christian, University of Houston, Baylor, Texas Women's University, the list goes on forever...Ivy grows better in the South anyway. Work Force? We have a ready supply of workers, and if need be, we can just open the borders (Mexico, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico) when we need more. We also have control of the paper industry, plastics, insurance, etc. We are also totally self sufficient in beef, poultry, hogs and vegetable production and everybody down here knows how to cook them so that they taste real good. Our growing seasons are nearly all year long (year round in the Rio Grande Valley) and we have great hunting and fishing to boot. We sure don't need any imported Yankee food. This is just a short list of the items that will keep the Republic Of Texas going strong. There isn't a thing out there that we need and don't have. Now to the rest of the United States under your President Gore: Just a few notes on REAL election results: Counties won by Bush: 2,434 Counties won by Gore: 677 Population of counties won by Bush: 143 million Population of counties won by Gore: 127 million Square miles of country won by Bush: 2,427,000 Square miles of country won by Gore: 580,000 States won by Bush: 29 States won by Gore: 19 And now for the most remarkable finding.... Average Murder per 100,000 residents in counties won by Bush: 0.1 Average Murder per 100,000 residents in counties won by Gore: 13.2 Researchers found one more interesting fact that might help explain these disparate murder rates. Gun ownership in the counties won by Mr. Bush is much higher than in the counties won by Mr. Gore. Signed, The Voters of Texas
