Michael, I agree with your comments. It only took me about 15 minutes after I installed it to figure out everything you just said. However, I do think the '97 version is a much simpler interface, mainly because you can see what you are looking at. I will be returning my upgrade disk and requesting the return of my '97 disks as well (since I had to turn them in to get the upgrade).
I have no idea what additions are in the '98 version. I spent an hour and a half just TRYING to find a simple bibliography and was unable to do so. I also don't like the fact that they took out the maps, charts, and graphics. I really didn't care for the midi files of the hyms, so that is not an issue for me.
I suspect that they had to change the interface since, as I understand it, they left INFOBASE and went to BOOKCRAFT. I don't know if that is true, but I suspect it is.
Unfortunately, they took the absolute best computer product available and completely ruined my faith of better products in the future. I think my $50 upgrade was a ripoff.
The '97 version is still an excellent product. I used it every day and learned a lot from it. I had upgraded to that product from the '95 version.
It is unfortunate that such an execellent gospel resourse was diminished by this '98 version.
You are not alone in your feelings about this.
